Very cool shot! I have been fortunate enough to see a few launches while visiting some relatives down in Florida. It's a very unique experience. Especially if you a are a pyro junkie like myself.

Very cool. I have a some great shots of Discovery when it flew over Dulles airport (and right outside my office) back in April. What a cool sight.

Re: thought I would share.

Definitely an awesome shot. Growing up in Florida, I did get to see a few (actually on clear nights I could see it launch from a few hundred miles away).

It's sad what's happened there. We've lost our drive to be on the cutting edge of technology, and it WILL come back to bite us in the arse.

I feel bad for all the guys in Cape Canaveral that lost their jobs in the space industry. Definitely not a good time to get rid of those high tech, high reward jobs.

It took about 70 years to go from horse transportation to walking on the moon. But it took about 110 years to from horses to the WK2!

Yeah, and it's tough to get a job as a legit rocket scientist.

Re: thought I would share.

Great photo - love the space shuttle. Thanks for posting - been watching it on TV today. Too bad the next generation was never pursued as this 1970's tech program never reached any efficiency at $1.6B per flight plus two losses over the life of the program (1/5 of a trillion $ overall). Wished we would have gone back to the moon! At least we are now doing cool, fiscally responsible stuff on Mars...

Thanks pretty cool, thanks for sharing. I have a lady working for my group, her and her husband worked for NASA in Florida when these were launching. She's told some great stories.
