Re: Thoughts on trading in the '14 Overland for a Yukon Denali?

I haven't driven the new Yukon Denali, although I do have a new Denali pickup as well as a '14 Overland. I got the Overland by trading in my 08 Yukon Denali. I wouldn't be upset with either choice. There are times I wish I was driving my 08 Denali over the Jeep and visa versa. Both are great cars, imo.

Why do you feel the need for Yukon?

Do you know it has a primitive solid rear axle?
Seriously, I don't think the OP was asking about the financial implications of the purchase.

What do you mean by primitive axle...did it come off of a wagon?

My wife has a 15 Denali and it is a great car. Much improved over the 07 she had, even with the primitive axle.

Re: Thoughts on trading in the '14 Overland for a Yukon Denali?

OP, I am actually thinking of doing the same thing. Recently learned my family is going to get a little (+1) bigger. I felt the Jeep was tight before, now I'm thinking I definitely need something larger. I actually have an appointment to test drive a '15 Yukon SLT (5.3L) and '15 Yukon Denali (6.2L) this Friday. As long as I don't get screwed on turning my leased 14 Overland in, I am most likely leaning this way. Let us know if you ended up going with the Denali.

Re: Thoughts on trading in the '14 Overland for a Yukon Denali?

I traded in my '11 Summit last week for one of them obnoxious '15i Escalades.
If room is what you are looking for, a GM big body is a pretty good option.
I only have 160 miles on it, so to supply a full report on the vehicle would be premature.
The Jeep was a great vehicle. I had a very late '11 build and had zero issues with it.
I am noticing an improvement in fuel mileage though…I was getting 13.1 mpg with the Hemi, something found pathetic for a vehicle the size of the GC.

Every GM "truck" with over 30k miles on it that I have ever been in is a rattle trap. Was in a friends Denali a while back, went down a bumpy ally and over a set of railroad tracks (route I drive every day)... I could not believe the noise/shake of the interior.
They are awesome off the showroom floor, but degrade quickly.

To your point, I didn't realize how much the Jeep loosened up until I got into the new car...

Rent one for a week or so. It's worth the expense to see how it behaves in your daily life. That's what we did, unintentionally, before we bought the JGC Overland. We had a Limited for 5 days, that stretched into 10 during January '15. We liked the vehicle so much we ended up buying the Overland last month.

If room is what you're worried about in the GC, fitting 3 car seats is more than do-able.

http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2...eat-check.html

I currently fit 2. I aint gonna lie i did think about trading in for a new durango but nah. I'll manage with 2 car seats.
