Thoughts on trading my 2011 Overland for another

So I got one of the first 2011 Overlands my dealer had last summer. Consequently I couldn't get quadra-lift, the tow package was not included, and they had no hemi's at the time. I was in a pinch to get a new car as mine had sold already. Flash forward to today, my wife's new company offers affiliate pricing on Jeeps and I'd love to have the QL, Hemi, etc. How bad do you think they would rape me on the trade? I have 8k miles on the current one and affiliate pricing is 1% below invoice.

You would lose 6 to 8 thousand on the deal I imagine.

Yeah, they'd probably get you good, unless you have a loyal dealer they may give you more than most others.

I did the same thing, bought a jeep prior to quadra lift. Mine has the tow package and the hemi though, thank god. I'd be looking to trade out too if I didn't. I'd expect to take a monster beating on the trade.

Wow I wasn't expecting that much of a hit. Kbb had a trade in value of 38-39k and with the discount the new truck would be about 41 so I figured I'd get out of there a little cheaper. Oh well, I still love the one I've got.

You could try selling it yourself..... I just sold my 2005 GC within 24 hours of the ad going live on autotrader.com (actually had two buyers but was first come first sold).

And I'd probably wait for the 2012 seeing that you already have the new GC.

That 38-39 doesn't sound right. I was looking at trading in for an RT8 challenger and trade in was 29k.
This was for a Laredo X

Re: Thoughts on trading my 2011 Overland for another

Kbb's trade values seem to be way off. The times I've checked there and then looked at NADA or talked to a dealer it seems like the Kbb is reporting trade values of at least 30% higher than reality; sometimes more.

I'd probably go with NADA values over Kbb.

Sell it yourself thru Cars.com and Autotrader.com which make the process easoer these days. I'd bet you could do so for high 30's.

Otherwise lack of QL isn't a big deal, but I can empathize if you want to tow or just want the Hemi in general.

Good luck.

Ditto that 38-39 doesn't sound right. That's way high. If you can get a new one for 41 then someone else can too so why would anyone pay 2K less for a used one. Plus if you finance, rates for new are generally better than used so it's probably closer to 30K as a used rig.

Re: Thoughts on trading my 2011 Overland for another

As other have said, 38-39 for trade in on a V6 overland is way too high. I paid $39 for my overland v6 brand new.

If you have a Carmax nearby you could go get a free appraisal from them to get an idea. But likely not worth it.
