Exclamation Time Delays

enough is enough guys. Seriously, I'm sick of signing onto jeepgarage and seeing 10 threads about you guys bitching about your jeep being "stuck" somewhere and that its unacceptable or its taking to long to build...blah blah.

Enough is enough, its tiring, its boring, I'm sick of reading it, so are other members.

if you don't like how long its taking, call the 1-800 number.

Re: Time Delays

How about you just let them say what they want?

This is a forum that allows any sort of discussion. Let them say want they want and if you dont like it well too bad.

Speak for yourself! I'm not tired of them -- and I bet most of the other members aren't either. If you're tired of them, don't read 'em!

Re: Time Delays

All I can say is that it is a good sign that there is demand for Jeep products and that people are passionate about them...otherwise Chrysler would be stuck in BK with no takers......

Re: Time Delays

Yeah - it's sort of a fine line between passion and "whining"

It's definitely a good sign for Chrysler that the Wk2 has met with such a welcome reception and that it has taken a bite out of a market that they were not really playing in before.

As they move up and take on the BMWs, Lexuses, etc. though, they'll find that customers for that demographic are somewhat less price sensitive (good for Jeep) but quite a bit more demanding regarding the whole ownership experience. This is where Jeep is struggling, but I think we need to give them a little bit of time. It seems like a lot of positive changes have been happening, but you can't change a culture overnight.

First they'll need to do all the "culture changes" at the factory and then this must eventually ripple out to the dealers. Browsing this forum, it's amazing how varied the dealer experiences have been.

Compare that to, say, Lexus. Love 'em or hate 'em (their cars do nothing for me), you must admit that their standards of customer care are both consistent and high.

This is an excellent point. Once you start running around in the near luxury bracket (such as with the Overland) with much regularity, the rules change a bit. While it still isn't priced immediately alongside the offerings from Mercedes, Audi, etc., you can see those from there, and that means Jeep and the dealers need to step it up a notch. They'll be doing much the same thing with the Chrysler 300. While this isn't completely new price territory for the company, the quality of the vehicles is now such that they don't need massive discounts from sticker in order to sell, which does indeed have them punching a bit above their present weight class.

One of the things they need to handle is the pre-delivery experience; get the vehicles to the people waving money at them. Then they need to make sure the dealers take care of the buyers; it's easier to keep a customer than find a new one.

Re: Time Delays

My two cents: If you order factory options, you will have a longer delivery time. Forums naturally attract more complaints than praises from members. That's human nature. You need to wade through it and that can be difficult at times. Check other car forums; they are the same. If you did not weigh the relative importance of problems you would not buy any car.

Well, forums do attract complaints but they also attract praise. Basically it's where people who have more of a passion for their ride hang out, good or bad.

Regarding factory options: Let's look at what Jeep is competing with. I don't buy Lexuses, but I do buy BMWs (for my wife ). When we bought the most recent BMW, we spec'd out just what we wanted, then took delivery 8 weeks later. Don't forget that this car was built in GERMANY and spent a chunk of those 8 weeks on a ship.

If the Overland wants to compete with the X5 in the luxury SUV category it will be up against even faster spec delivery times because the X5 (and X3 now too) is built stateside in S Carolina.
