Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

I read that was one of the symptoms. I've only had issues with the alarm going off for no reason.

Whoa...now that's not normal! Let's hope Chrysler gets it together and fixes this issue!

Greetings,

Same here. If it I have not turned it over within a couple of hours, sometimes the long crank starts.

I am waiting for my Brake booster recall parts to come in. While the GC is their, I am going to check if my aftermarket warranty covers this.

Best for now.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

I saw on the other forum they are issuing a recall.

Quote:

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) announced a safety recall on all 2011 model year (WD/WK) Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with a 3.6L or 5.7L engine.
Some of the above vehicles may experience a failure in the electric fuel pump relay located within the Totally Integrated Power Module-7 (TIPM-7). A vehicle with a failed fuel pump relay may intermittently or permanently:
 not start.
 not start on the first attempt.
 not stay running upon startup.
 cause the engine to stall while driving.
 cause the electric fuel pump to remain energized after vehicle shutdown.
Chrysler will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all involved vehicles to install a standalone external electric fuel pump relay.

Note: this is an announcement. This recall has not yet been launched. I'm not sure at this point of timing and the the affected vehicle list is not yet complete.
Recall Notification will be mailed to the customer's address on record.
Launched/outstanding recalls can be checked on-line using the VIN on the Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep brand Web sites through the "For Owners" page.
If it is determined that the customer's vehicle is included in the recall and repairs have already been completed at the customer's expense, the recall notification will direct customers on how to submit original receipts for reimbursement.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

2012 V6 with same issues. This impacts far more than 2011 models. My dealer doesn't want to consider all the forum/online info I've printed out and can't diagnose since it doesn't happen while they have the JGC. I've gotten Chrysler involved. Hopefully they will help get this resolved.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

Take it to the dealer and give it to them and tell them you dont want it back till they fix it. I had to bring mine in twice before they finally fixed it.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

Verified a while ago that the TIPM is covered by my Added Care Plus service contract (good to 2099) so would certainly be covered by the MaxLife.

That said so far my 2012 V6 has had no problems. Am putting a set of Michelins on to replace the 1/2 worn Goodyears hoping that will end the monsoon season.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

Funny, I took my 2011 grand Cherokee limited in for not starting. I got it back today and the TIPM was replaced as well as two recall problems ,brake booster and the sun visor wiring issue. I have a Max Care warranty so it was $150.00 out of pocket expense. I will call my service advisor to make him aware of the possibility of a recall. Thank God I didn't lose power on the highway. Scared stuff.
