TIPM Class Action Suit

I have a 2011 5.7 Grand Cherokee. I recently had the fuel pump external relay installed that cured no starts that I have had for the past two years. Today there is an article in the NY Times that deals with Chrysler TIPM problems such as no starts that are happening to a number of owners. In fact a class action suit is underway to force Chrysler to correct the TIPM defects. The web sites are:

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

Greetings,

I spoke to my mechanic over at Jeep about this on the side. He puts in a new relay to correct the problem. He said this has been going on with Chrysler for some years.

I have now check if my aftermarket warranty covers this. Once in a while it takes 2 or 3 tries to start up. I have not experience any other symptoms as described in the article. I hope that Fiat puts pressure on Chrysler to look into this much closer. I am sure if they examine the claims from that group, they will find the root of the problem.

Best for now.

Good...and I hope all these Chrysler owners win as well.

I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty pissed if I have to dish out $1,300 for a known defective part that Chrysler refuses to pay for.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

Greetings,

I agree, this could be worse than GM's problem.

I am disturbed that the JGC has the potential to lose complete power at any given time. To me this is a far worse problem than all of the other issues they are currently facing. Granted this random, but random is the same thing as Russian Roulette.

I just did a 2150 mile road trip which much of the driving was done in the middle of the night including some mountain areas. In the winter, ski season is coming up for me and others as well, besides the normal winter driving. To be strand in the middle of the day at any time is not healthy.

The TIPM has to be carefully monitored to see how Chrysler is handling this. For this issue, I would encourage those that are facing problems similar as described in the article to contact Chrysler for the remedy and keep the pressure on them.

To spend $1,300.00 or more to correct or prevent a disaster of a well known problem is unacceptable.

Best for now.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

I had this issue on my 08' Nitro. It died only 500 miles into owning it (I bought it brand new). My JGC has been light years better though.

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

This explains why my alarm has gone off a few times for no reason on my 2011 JGC Overland. I do have the Mopar Lifetime Warranty so hopefully I'm covered!

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

My 2011 Grand Cherokee is in the shop right now for this issue. Getting the TIPM replaced under my maxcare. They said there was a shortage in the relay to the fuel pump and the only way to fix is to replace the TIPM. only have to pay the deductable.

Did you bring it into the shop for the fuel pump or the TIPM?

Re: TIPM Class Action Suit

Were you having issues beforehand or you just brought it in to avoid future issues?
