Re: To debadge the hood or not to debadge, that is the question.

My 2 cents - I actually like the Jeep logo - simple and clean - and I like the chrome against the blackberry pearl - I think it really sets off the paint- and I don't mind representin' either - so I will pass on the debadge frenzy -but to each his own -either way- it looks like people are taking pride in their ride and that is what counts

My Two Cents (the pennies are piling up): I agree the Jeep logo is classic and understated and contrasts well against the Brilliant Black.

Anyone ever take the side chrome pieces off? The ones with the "GRAND CHEROKEE" logo?
Are the clipped or are they just mounted on like the JEEP logo?

They are just stuck on with 3m molding tape. The wk2 looks so clean with no molding imo

Mine, blackberry, on saddle should arrive next week and after seeing the debadged nose it will be one of my mods as I think it accentuates the forward hood line and will make the clear bra installer much happier. Each to his own, mods are personal.

Search through the archives. Someone did that, and it looked good, and someone had their Jeep delivered with the molding only applied to one side. With either of the examples, you'll see that the body is clean behind the molding.

I'm torn. should I or shouldn't i? It looks great either way.
i do like the idea of the decreased aerodynamic drag
but I'd be worried about exposing that area to stone chips

Add me to the debadged group. Love the look of the front, shows more of the Blackberry!

Not me! I had thought about it, but when I look at my new baby it looks just right as is.

Re: To debadge the hood or not to debadge, that is the question.

It's a design choice. Less is more. The slotted grill is Jeep's ID.

Badges do nothing. They don't make the car go faster, or stop more quickly, or make it sound better, or even protect anything for that matter.

They're useless, aside from telling the person behind you exactly which model of Brand-X you're driving. There are other ways for enthusiasts to identify a designation which are more fun and challenging:

1. Wheels
2. Exhausts
3. Calipers
4. Grill
5. Lights
6. Trim, etc.

Those of you that have debadged the hood, congrats. It looks FANTASTIC! Thanks for the pics.

My two cents...

Re: To debadge the hood or not to debadge, that is the question.

Historical trivia: When George Barris was a young man and body work was still done with lead, "debadged" was known as "shaved."
