Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

I'm averaging about 14.5 on my Laredo X Hemi, and I've got about 1000 miles on it. I would love to see 17.5!

I have a friend that has the hemi as well. He is getting 8.9 in his. 17.5 is nothing to sneeze at with the hemi.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

I wouldn't be complaining about 17.5 MPG in a 5.7.

I would imagine there is a programmer out there with an 'eco' tune that activates MDS more frequently, if you're interested in that.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

Congrats on the new ride and I agree with the others that mileage will get better after a few thousand miles. However, it's a Hemi and fuel economy is not its forte. May I suggest you do an an oil change between 1500-2000 miles and then go to a full synthetic at that time. You're mileage and performance will improve with a full synthetic oil but don't change it until the engine has had some run time to properly mate the friction surfaces (1500-2000 miles). Use oil that is acceptable to Chrysler for warranty purposes, of course.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

What kind of mileage were you expecting? I'm not trying to be funny, that's a serious question. The V6 is rated at 16/22, and you were happy with the 20.5mpg it returned in mixed driving. The Hemi is rated at 13/19, and you returned the same 1.5mpg difference between your mixed driving and the highway number advertised on the sticker, yet you seem to be surprised.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

The Hemi EPA numbers are right at 3mpg lower than the V-6, no matter what you're doing. Keep in mind that it takes a few thousand miles to really get a good idea of how the engine will be for the life of the vehicle, but that sounds like decent mileage for the V-8.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

Agree...posted numbers suggest 3 mpg less with the V8. Were you not expecting this with a V8?

If my WK was getting 17mpg I would be on cloud nine. My poc WK gets less than 10mpg city.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

Thanks for everyone posts... been busy the last couple of days. I'm not disappointed with the gas mileage. I know it is a HEMI. I just was curious what everyone thought and what they were getting. Thanks again for all feedback. I'm tracking down around 16.5 "rural" city.

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

Just took New Overland 5.7H on 2500 mile trip right out of the dealer parking lot. We averaged 19.6 MPG which I think is awesome out of the box. We also went south from the Midwest thru the mountains and it ran like a Mercedes!

Re: Took delivery today of Overland - Questions

Totally expect 3 mpg less with the Hemi. Honestly, I'm getting 15 mpg combined.
