Just ordered the Overland and had a quick question about tow hooks. You guys know if the 2 tow hooks are included in the front? what about the rear tow hook?

Thanks

The tow hooks only come if you have ordered the off road package. If you did not, you have neither the tow hooks nor the skid plates. The rear tow hook is only included if you did not get a towing package.

If you like, the tow hooks can be added as an accessory; I'm thinking about having the hooks and plates added on.

I've been wondering about that as I don't believe they're in the Mopar catalog for the WK2.

But I remember the tow hooks for my KJ were Mopar accessories, and I think the WK, too. (both the KJ and WK may have even used the same hooks?)

If they're not offered as accessories, then of course you could still get them as "parts"; just have the parts department look them up. But if they're sold as actual 'accessories', then thought will likely have been put into them to make them easy to install by owners (bolt positions, mounting brackets/holes on the vehicle, etc.). If they're just a replacement 'part', then no guarantee it'll be an easy install.

They're in there. Check page 3 (specifically, number 5).
Ah. OK. Great! I've only ever looked here: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/pdf/2011_wk2_accessories_01.pdf
...and don't see them listed in there.

I'd expect a fairly simple installation. Looking at the non-hook-equipped models, the sides of the lower grill area appear to basically be knockout panels. I'd also expect the holes in the frame to be pre-drilled/stamped; I can't imagine they'd take the time to manually punch those holes on ONLY those with the off road packages- way too easy to stamp them in as they form the panel to begin with.
Yeah, the holes on my KJ were already there, too. The installation was fairly straightforward although I think both the instructions and also people that had already installed them themselves recommended removing the front bumper for easier access to everything. I managed to install them without removing the bumper, but it was then a very tight fit for my fingers and tools which made it a pretty slow job. I vaguely having a heck of a time getting the M bolts that came with hooks held in place until I could screw them tight.

The KJ's hooks have proved useful several times in the mud, both for pulling and being pulled. They also worked nice for pulling out bushes and small tree stumps :) So I'd like to have them on the WK2, also.
I think I can get by without skid plates, so don't really want to get the whole OR package. I may just opt to buy then ask the dealer to throw the tow hooks on as part of the dealer prep.

Tow hooks have a bracket that bolts to the rails and the tow hooks also bolt to the bumber beam if you did not get the factory installed tow hooks the brackety on the bumper beam is not on there. it is an interesting design. I looked at mine compaired to a non tow hook GC.
