Towing 2011 GC Behind Motorhome - Tail Light Wiring

Has anyone wired their new GC to tow behind a motorhome using the diode packs?

I'm getting conflicting advice on wiring the tail lights. Some are telling me to install the separate "bulb and socket" kits by drilling a 1" hole in the back of the fender mounted tail lights because the using the diodes might cause problems. Others tell me they had RV places wire theirs and they used the diodes.

I prefer using the diode kits but want to do the job myself so I am looking for anyone that has plowed this ground and might give me info on tail light pinouts, etc.

Jerry

Re: Towing 2011 GC Behind Motorhome - Tail Light Wiring

While I can't answer your specific question, the user in the thread referenced below installed a tow-behind kit for his RV. If you shoot him a PM, I'm sure he could shed some insight on how the brake lights were wired.

$2,500 later = This mod is done!

Doesn't the owner's manual say it cannot be towed in this manner?

Not exactly .... 4x2 vehicles may be towed with the rear wheels off the ground only. QT1 vehicles cannot be flat towed at all, since there is no neutral for the trans case. QT2 vehicles can be flat towed, per owner's manual:

Quote:
The transfer case must be shifted into NEUTRAL (N) and
the transmission must be placed in PARK for recreational
towing.

Re: Towing 2011 GC Behind Motorhome - Tail Light Wiring

Well, I have PM'd and emailed that guy and one other that had talked about towing his '11 GC behind a motorhome, but no response from either. So I am still looking for any insight from someone who has either cut into his tail light wiring and inserted diodes or drilled a hole in their tail lights and added a socket and bulb kit on their '11 GC.
