Towing 3.6L GC Summit

Hi all. Not new to towing, but I haven't tried out our 2016 GC Summit. So, I bought the Mopar brake controller and will install it this week. I'm pulling a Haulmark LowHauler box trailer. 2800 lbs. empty. Adding at least 1 HD Ultra, maybe another. My bike is close to 1,,000 and the other bike is just slightly less. That'll put my trailer weight up around 4800 lbs. 2-3 people in the vehicle and luggage & other odds/ends.

I do have a equalizer hitch which I'll use. As you can see I'll be getting up to near 6,000 lbs.
Trip is only 250 miles one way. 75% highway. Has anyone pulled this much with a GC Summit? And should I use the Sport mode to help out the shifting, I'm thinking it is similar to the tow/haul mode on the pickups. I realize it not exactly the same, but just thinking about using that.

I still may use my 3500 Cummins as I have in the past, but I'd like to use the GC this year. All comments welcomed! Bob F

Re: Towing 3.6L GC Summit

Assuming you have the v6, your towing limit is 6200 lbs with the 4x4 drivetrain, so you're under that based on your description. The WDH is required for this load level, so that's a good thing that you have one to use so that your tongue weight is balanced over the axels. (the QL and load leveling will do their thing, but they do not shift weight forward for balance)

Do keep in mind that you must calculate your tongue weight to figure your allowable cargo inside of the JGC including passengers and luggage...the tongue weight is also part of that and the limit is not very high.
