when the Mopar "tow stuff" is installed, there is often a step missing that brings the brake wire into the cabin.. IIRC the instructions have you tape the brake wire up to a harness under the hood.

for little stuff you won't need electric brakes, surge brakes should be OK..

Tom, AFAIK, the full harness is installed at the factory on JGC even if there is no "Factory Tow" option with the controller connector behind the emergency brake in the cabin and another connector up behind the rear bumper to mate with the pigtail that's on the OEM hitch electrical connectors. I believe they do this both for practicality as well as to hopefully discourage folks from tapping into the rear lights to add trailer lighting connections.
