Re: Towing thread

I have the Eco Diesel. Wouldn't tow with anything else.
The low rev torque and fuel economy of the diesel are outstanding.

Have covered 11,000 Klm's from new and averaged 9.3 Lt per 100 Klm's. Keep in mind that I tow heavy loads almost every other day.......including my H220 below.

Cheers, Craig

I haven't picked up a set yet. This spring I plan on getting the mirrors. I haven't decided which ones to purchase yet. Are they completely necessary for short trips, IMO no. Longer trips I do think the mirrors will be very beneficial. I will post back with pictures when I pull the trigger.

I think you need mirrors when you need to see the side of your trailer, especially when the trailer is wider than the tow vehicle. Towing a boat you may get all the view angle you need with OEM mirrors.

Re: Towing thread

This is the first time I've hooked the GC up to our camper. It moved from the storage yard to our house today. I had not put the towing mirrors on yet.

If you can't see down the side of what you are towing additional mirrors are compulsory.
Note they must be removed once the trailer is removed. you can't have any part not protruding from the vehicle more then X distance think it is 200mm would have too look it up.

Re: Towing thread

I just use some small strap-ons when towing the TM.

Re: Towing thread

I was cruising through a parking lot yesterday and noticed the EVIC was displaying ECO at low speeds. I was curious, so I hit the Tow/Haul button and the ECO light went out. Hit the switch again and it came back on. I did it a few times to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

I'm only putting this out here because I haven't come across any posts (that I recall) linking the T/H button to disabling ECO mode. Mine is a '13 Hemi with tow package.

Of course it will, you don't tow with 4 cylinders.

For the record, lots of people tow with 4 cylinder vehicles

I think it should be stated in the owner's manual what tow/haul mode does.

Re: Towing thread

Tow/Haul button shuts off MDS which in turn makes the ECO indicator go away. It also does some other optimizations. If I recall, it's in the manual.
