Re: Towing thread

Was finally able to take the Crownline out for it's first trip this summer where the weather finally cooperative and the work schedule. Thou was a tad worried about pulling my 21 foot Crownline with the V-6 but am not worried anymore, did excellent pulling the boat with no issues even in some hilly areas and got 14 MPG with it pulling the boat compared to the 9-10 MPG I got with my Dodge Ram 1500 so it surely gets a from me!!

Even thou the Dodge Ram did match the Boat pretty darn good!

Re: Towing thread

Nice boat. You need to paint the boat now to match the Jeep.

Re: Towing thread

Last year we kept a slip for July thru Sept, but it is such an ease and pleasure to launch and put in with the JGC, we may just leave her be this season. Whether at the gas pumps or boat ramps, there's as much interest in the Jeep as the watercraft. Pretty cool.

Re: Towing thread

Great info in here. I was planning on trailering my '69 Charger in a friends 24' enclosed trailer from Florida to Virginia in a few weeks but after reading a few posts in here it's probably not the best idea. I don't have a weight distribution hitch, which seems to be the issue from what I've read.

I've towed my '51 Ford pickup on an open trailer (all steel, equipment grade) without issue but maybe I just got lucky. Hummmm

Anyone towing anything close to the 7,000 lb mark?

The enclosed trailer is a featherlite so its fairly light (under 3,000 lbs) and the Charger is loaded with a 440 so its probably pushing 4,000 lbs. That's under the rated capacity for my Overland with Class iV tow package but I guess I need a WDH to run this set-up.

Re: Towing thread

I tow a 28 foot travel trailer weighting around 5,000 lbs. I use a standard weight distributing hitch. I have the 4WD hemi. Overall, the towing performance is very good. Plenty of power. Some swaying in heavy cross winds. To my knowledge, the WK2 with the hemi is the only SUV that can tow this size trailer.
