Anything like this is very subjective... There are folks who hate them; folks who are "meh" about them; and folks who love them. It's always been that way and always will be that way.

OP, congrats on the new ride!

I would love to have the lane sense and self parking from the 2017, but I too hate those wheels.
The two main reasons were: (1) I thought that the V6 would be extremely fuel efficient; and (2) V8s were going at a high premium (little to no discount). So I didn't even test-drive one at the time.

Regarding the V6, the situation improved a bit when I turned the eco mode off. But I take a lot of hilly road trips and I felt that the V6 worked hard to pull hills (although it might have been the ECT).

The manual says that 89 is preferred but 87 is acceptable. Since Sam's Club only stocks 87 and 93 I'll use 93.

Nice new summit OP and congrats! It would look better if you didn't take pics with it sitting in off-road 2 height though
Correct on the fuel.

Those photos are from the dealer's site!

Since using anything higher than 89 has no benefit, I wonder if you will be saving buying 93 at Sams, rather than 89 at a local station.

Congrats on the '17, we just returned from a weekend trip to the mountains. 5 hrs each way, and only saw one '17 summit the entire drive. It's nice having the latest and greatest, I don't mind the wheels.

I drove 4 hours to suburban Atlanta to do the deal. I worked the numbers in advance and did all of the negotiating by phone, email, and text. So when I arrived I took a test drive and filled out the paperwork.

The '16 was a Granite Crystal/Sienna California Edition. The '17 is also!

The driving experience is totally different. So anyone who's on the fence about getting the Hemi, GET IT!

No more sluggishness going up hills, no more annoying auto start/stop. And the gas mileage, believe it or not, is comparable to the V6. The ZF 8HP70 transmission is also great.

Here are some pics:
Nice ride, sir. Congratulations!

Thanks!

The Velvet Red is beautiful!

I don't mind the wheels either. Wheels have never been a major factor for me in purchasing a car.

I totally agree with you bill_de. I never even once seriously considered getting a V6 powered WK2. Heck... one of the main reasons I switched from a Toyota 4Runner over to the Jeep Grand Cherokee was Toyota dropping the V8 option in the current 4Runners.

I wasn't thrilled with the wheels that came with my 17 Trailhawk so I got some of these Black Rhinos in matte gun metal that are an improvement in my opinion. I don't dislike the wheels on your rig. Congrats!

Congrats on your purchase. You have no one to justify it to since it's your cash and only your decision. If you're happy trading it in after one year and are enjoying your new rig..that's all that matters. 😎

Congratulations! Would you share how many miles your 2016 had and cost to make this upgrade?
