Re: Traded my 2014 in today...on a Kia Sedona Minivan

A bit ironic... We bought our first Jeep SRT BECAUSE we had small children... It was a step up in space from our previous 300C SRT...

Interesting though, I guess because we fought with and got used to the lesser space of the Sedan, the Jeep was plenty.

Oh well, good luck to you and a great choice. We have had a few KIAs over the years and a few family members have had and still have them. Never ANY trouble with any of them. Awesome cars for the money.

Our other vehicle is a 2014 Kia Sorento. It is actually a pretty nice car. We have the SX-L also, and yes, that sucker is loaded. I'm certain you will come to, , , um, , , er, , , accept it.

Everytime my kid gets on my nerves I just think to myself "he will never be this age again" and I quickly enjoy my time with him. Good luck with yours, they grow too quickly.

On the plus side, you can start looking at the "new" new Jeeps soon!!!

Smooth move. Respect to a man with his priorities in line. Right car for the right time. Right about time you have gotten your money's worth out of the Kia, your kids will be hopping in and out on their own and the stroller will be a thing of the past. Next car will be less kid constrained... Unless it isn't, in which case you will again make the right choice. Enjoy the kids. Mine are 22 and 18 and the battle isn't over yet.

We have 7 week old twins, and the Jeep is just too small, and loading them in and out with one carseat in the middle of the bench and lifting the heavy stroller up into the back was getting too hard for my wife as they get heavier. All in all, having the van will make her daily life with them out on her own much easier. Trips will be easier with more room, and we can take grandma places with us again.

Definitely sad. I've never made a car trade I wasn't excited about before. The 2014 was a great vehicle for the 11 months and 13,600 miles we had it. The 2011 we had before was a problematic one, but the 2014 exceeded our expectations.

The Kia is a nice van, we looked at them all and it has all the tech of the Overland pretty much, and has the nicest interior of all the vans by a wide margin. But...its a van. We'll ride this baby until the kids are ambulatory and we'll get back into an SUV...hopefully the Grand Wagoneer will be out.

So...take a spin around the block in your Jeeps for me guys!
I can completely understand that decision. When loading all the stuff for the kids a minivan makes it much easier. Just curious if you looked at the Town and Country and the Honda minivan and how they compared to the Kia?

Re: Traded my 2014 in today...on a Kia Sedona Minivan

My niece and nephew went with a KIA when their twins were born. Raising the twins took their minds off of what they used to drive, and why. Ultimately the twins brought them more excitement than any vehicle ever would.

Congratulations.

Haha, I've had several people bring up that ad when I told them about the trade!

Didn't look at the Town & Country due to poor crash test ratings. Really only looked at te Sedona, the Sienna and the Odyssey. All have their strong points. The Odyssey was crossed off the list because their second row doesn't slide, and the rear facing seats were still cramped behind the front seats, and because you couldn't get the tech package stuff, mainly the adaptive cruise that we loved on the Jeep. Neither vehicle is as nice inside or outside as the Sedona, and the Sienna was a lot more money for the same spec (about $5k more).

So far so good, the wife is very happy with it, kids are too, and...I don't completely hate it so its a win!

Someone asked what I got on trade for the GC, $35k with 14k miles. They're listed around here similar miles and package for like $38-38.9k, so I'd assume they're selling around $37k. I felt it was fair.

Since we are trying for our second, we have no choice but to leave the Focus. It's barely okay with one toddler. That's why we are looking for the JGC.

Well i'm on the same boat.

Currently have a 1 yr old and wife is 11 wks prego.

As it is now my Jeep fills up very quickly. I also currently have 2 car seats in place with 1 in the middle. Both are convertibles but one is when my daughter was a new born. She still fits in that but we only use it in the mornings while she is asleep. The other car seat is a Britax(huge seat).

So my theory is she'll be using the britax primarily when the new baby comes and they'll be using the infant car seat. Now the cargo area is pretty much only used for the stroller but once baby comes will n eed to invest in a 2 seater stroller...

I get what the OP did but dang, idk i would go that road as for a van. Dont get me wrong its nice, my wifes uncle just got one a Limited i think but not my thing.

I have thought about looking into trading and for what and only things i like are either a Tahoe or an Escalade. Did think about the Durango but its being discontinued soon and honestly prefer the looks of the jeep more. Now the Grand Wagoneer should be out in a few yrs, maybe i'll wait for that or convince wifey to take the plunge. I'm very happy with my hemi.

Wow I would have held out a bit longer and bought the new redesigned Chrysler Town and Country. I'm not sure if this is the interior, but it came up when I did a search of the 2016 Town and Country.
