The only thing about waiting is that first year of headaches.

Trust me the last thing a new parent wants is another 3000 lbs of problems.

I did my own search and found a test car article/sphy shots and it seems the interior does resemble the above pic. Looks a lot like the GC/Durango.

Thats a Chrysler 200 sedan. I would have waited for the new T&C but its still 1+ years away. Saying it will be shown in January at the car show, and then it will be a few months after that at least before it becomes available. We needed the additional space now, before we started taking trips for the summer.

I have thought about looking into trading and for what and only things i like are either a Tahoe or an Escalade. Did think about the Durango but its being discontinued soon and honestly prefer the looks of the jeep more. Now the Grand Wagoneer should be out in a few yrs, maybe i'll wait for that or convince wifey to take the plunge. I'm very happy with my hemi.
It was a very hard decision. As a car guy I love my cars, and giving one up that I really enjoyed for something that I didn't really like was something I had never done before...

What made it easier for me is that I won't be driving the van unless we're all going out somewhere or going on a trip. As it is since the babies were born I really haven't been able to drive the Jeep for anything more than that, other than real quick to get it washed or gassed up. Before they were born I would take it (and the 2011) to WV when I went down there or on other trips just me, and I got to use it and enjoy it...but now I wouldn't be able to because my wife needs it to drive the kids around.

We really considered a three row crossover like a Pathfinder/QX60, MDX, Highlander, Buick Enclave, etc. But, I didn't love any of those and I figured if I didn't love it anyways, may as well get a minivan. The big GM SUVs are just too big and too expensive.

I also considered trading my Lexus and keeping the Jeep and driving that as my daily, but it was cheaper to trade the Jeep and as much driving as I do for work the fuel cost of the Jeep would have been a lot, and the truck-like nature of the Jeep sometimes would have gotten tiring.

Had I been buying something I would drive daily, I couldn't have done the minivan lol.

Goodness! My kids are grown now, but I thought driving a Grand Cherokee way back then was the best! My other cars were a Camaro and Vettes and a Wrangler. The Grand was the "kid car", not a minivan! In fact, at one time we had two Grand Cherokees in the garage. Perfect!

Re: Traded my 2014 in today...on a Kia Sedona Minivan

Got back from our first trip in the van and with the kids. Would not have been able to carry all that stuff in the Jeep. Now...I don't think we needed half of it but being able to take it reduced my wife's anxiety tremendously...so there ya go.

Sedona ran great, nice and solid at 80. Radar cruise is a little quicker to pick back up when someone moves out from in front of you which I like, in the Jeep I found myself getting back on it myself a lot to keep people behind me from getting pissy.

Not as refined as the Jeep or as enjoyable to drive obviously. But, we were all comfortable and we had all our belongings with us, got it home and got it washed...and I don't hate it...I sort of like it for different reasons.

It'll do until the kids are ambulatory and then we'll look at our options.

I have a neighbor who has a 2014 WK2, he got the 2011 and thats what made me want to get one back originally. When he saw it today when we got home he told me we cou;dint be friends anymore LOL

Get used to that mate. My daughters are five and three and my wife still brings waaaay too much stuff - regardless if just a day trip or holiday. Her bag is always so damn heavy and whenever I try and highlight 25KG worth of stuff that could be removed I get those eyes - the ones where you know your life is hanging on a thread!

Likewise - we had one of the largest cargo spaces in our Sportswagon than almost any car available in Australia, but we want to take our camping trips off-road now plus needed a little more space. The Overland was a fraction smaller but with a roof tray she'll have all the space we need so was a perfect fit.

Kind of surprised you did not like the GM "mid-size" offerings. To me they are the perfect van replacement. Aside from my Jeep, my wife and I have a 2013 Acadia Denali and feel it is perfect for the family. The size inside is great. Plenty of room for the kids and our massive dog (Newfoundland). I also think the Acadia is an attractive vehicle. All family trips involve the Acadia, not the Jeep.

In any case, best of luck with the Kia. I will say I have seen pics of the Sedona and it is attractive for a minivan.

I do like them actually. I agree, they and the Nissan Pathfinder/Infiniti QX60 are the best "minivan replacement" vehicles. They still have some tradeoffs compared to minivans though, such as no sliding doors for loading kids in parking lots, no flat floor, less space in the back with the third row up. Had I loved them the way I loved the Jeep we agreed that we would deal with the tradeoffs, but while I liked them I didn't love them so minivan it was.

Lookwise I don't care for them either, but from an interior/functionality standpoint they're hard to beat.
