Traded my 2014 in today...on a Kia Sedona Minivan

Definitely a bittersweet day. Traded the Jeep in on a new 2015 Kia Sedona SX-L Minivan.

We have 7 week old twins, and the Jeep is just too small, and loading them in and out with one carseat in the middle of the bench and lifting the heavy stroller up into the back was getting too hard for my wife as they get heavier. All in all, having the van will make her daily life with them out on her own much easier. Trips will be easier with more room, and we can take grandma places with us again.

Definitely sad. I've never made a car trade I wasn't excited about before. The 2014 was a great vehicle for the 11 months and 13,600 miles we had it. The 2011 we had before was a problematic one, but the 2014 exceeded our expectations.

The Kia is a nice van, we looked at them all and it has all the tech of the Overland pretty much, and has the nicest interior of all the vans by a wide margin. But...its a van. We'll ride this baby until the kids are ambulatory and we'll get back into an SUV...hopefully the Grand Wagoneer will be out.

So...take a spin around the block in your Jeeps for me guys!

I couldn't do it myself, but I understand you have to have your priorities. Good luck with the minivan!

Anyone forced to drive a minivan should take a look at Sabine Schmitt nearly beating Jeremy Clarkson's lap time at Nurburgring in series 6, episode 7. His lap was in a Jaguar S Type. Sabine was driving a Transit van!

I understand your needing to do what you did, but you could never pay me to drive a Korean car. My friend traded his forester for a Kia Sportage about 30 k ago. He was so excited about the ventilated seats, and navi, and courtesy lighting....etc. It's been in the shop eight times since he got it. This last time was for over a week, cause he was loosing a quart of oil a week, and they couldn't find out where it was going. I would have opted for an Odyssey if I had to go sackless

Sometimes we have to make tough choices for the right reasons. Congrats on the twins! Enjoy the new vehicle it sounds like it is loaded and pretty nice.

Re: Traded my 2014 in today...on a Kia Sedona Minivan

OP, I know what you're talking about, we have a 21 month old and 6 month old, and the Jeep is just not cutting it. With the kids, double stroller, diaper bags, etc..., really fills up the Jeep quickly, and like you mentioned the toughest part is getting the kids in and out, especially with someone parked beside you. Of course my Jeep being lifted doesn't help.

We looked at the Sedona, Odyssey and Sienna. Sedona is a gorgeous vehicle, and you're right loaded with options, but the lack of a rear dvd for kids, and the price has us decided on a Sienna. Here in Canada all 3 are about 48-51k loaded, just feel the Sedona should be cheaper, given them trying to re-establish their name/reputation. I do disagree with you on the interior, I think the Sienna is nicest, followed by Sedona, then Odyssey...

Congratulations on the twins!
I can't believe anyone willingly buys a minivan unless they have to. Considering your family's needs, it was a no-brainer.

Well, congrats on the twins!! And my condolences on the loss of the Jeep.
When our kids were young we had a Reliant wagon...arrggg.
But did suit the need at the time
Enjoy your kids while they are young...the years go by quickly

What's wrong with a Plymouth Reliant wagon? I grew up in a silver 1986 model. It was quite the workhorse. My dad would abuse it so hard and like a Timex, it would keep on going.
