Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

A V6 with out lift but with the right tires would run circles around an overland off road edition. The badge doesn't mean anything. It's marking for those that really don't know jack about wheeling. All the true enthusiasts will get the basics from the manufacturer then move forward using the aftermarket.

Actually it's ONLY the 4X4 WITH V8. If you look at the 70th Anniversary ones that are 4X4s with V6, the part where you'd find the Select Terrain is empty. On the 4X4s with V8, it's there. I just saw these yesterday so it's not a mistake...that's how they all were (V6s didn't have it and V8s did..makes no sense).

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

The Trail Rated badge is marketing. I found out the same thing when shopping, I wanted cloth seats, so that forced the V6. The choice came down to the Off Road Package II or All Weather Package. The All Weather gives you the Select Terrain, Mats, Engine Block Heater, tow hooks and Remote Start. It listed for ~$600 versus I think $1200 for the ORII. For $300-500 in skid plates that are an easy after market add and basically the same tires you got the mats, remote start and Engine block heater all for a cheaper total cost.

I went to a dealer that had the off road, thinking it would be easy to spot via a walk down the row looking at the tires. What a surprise to see the tire were street tires. In the end made my decision easy since I don't need skid plates as mainly wanted the vehicle for entry height, cargo and winter driving.

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

Yep, "Trail Rated" these days is simply a merketing term. In reality, it means nothing.

Heck, here in Australia, they market every single Jeep as "Trail Rated", even shitbox Compass etc.....

None of our Jeeps get the badge though, thankfully.

X10000 Some people on this board are very easily lured in by Jeep Marketing.

This is interesting....My Laredo X has everything listed above except, the 20" wheels/tires....?? Unless the tire pressure display is somehow different from the one in my EVIC or, it has something different from my Media Center 430N? Strange....how much more was that package?

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

Has anyone seen a 2012 v8 overland (not summit) with the off road adventure package II? I think this is the particular combination of options that is $600+ than the exact same package as 2011. For instance, if you pick this for the summit, its the same price as 2011, $275. Where i am going is, are we sure that its the same list of options besides what we read on the internet or at the dealer. Has anyone seen or had delivered the combination that is causing Hem (and myself) such fits? Yes, as i just overpaid and ordered a 2012, i am hoping the text is wrong and i am actually getting something for a 3x price increase......

It doesn't matter. A badge is just a badge.
