Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

More than anything, I am honestly upset that the 2012 Overland that I ordered doesn't come with the Rear LSD. I am going to see If I can find a 2011 Summit Edition and see if I can work out a deal. Worse comes worst, I will just end up buying my ordered vehicle. But this is new information to everyone...

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

With my previous 2005 WK I had the 4.7L V8 4x4 and it was Trail Rated. I didn't have any extra protection, skid plates, tow hooks or even a tow hitch! I think previously, all you needed to be Trail-Rated was 4x4 in a Grand Cherokee. The rest was just a bonus. So if anything, they have increased the requirements to be Trail Rated (excluding the 70th anniversary anomaly).

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

I don't think any qt-1 are trail-rated since there's no low gear. That I believe is the main difference between the v8 and v6 70th Anniv.

I hate how Jeep limits the build process, especially with the interior choices and 20" polished wheels in combination with wood color on U.S. builds.
You should be able to unless your in a country that limits the selection for whatever reason. I live in the US and I have an Overland with black leather interior. Looks great, and it would have been a deal breaker if I couldn't.

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

So reading this thread, in summary:

2011 Overland gets rear LSD standard, 2012 doesn't and costs about $2,000.00 to upgrade in order to get it? And the base MSRP went up $750.00 as well. The 6 speed tranny they are toting to come out in 2012 is really just a reprogrammed 5 speed, and if you have the 5 speed and take it in and get the transmission reflashed and updated programming, then you really have the same.

Is this right?

Re: TRAIL RATED is a JOKE!

The 2011 Overland only had the ELSD if you had the 4x4 and v8 option's In 2012, you also need to have the ORAGII or Summit option as well.
For 2011, if you wanted the following: 4x4, v8, 730 RHR, ORAGII, your MSRP was 44,855. The same build in 2012, the msrp is 47,010. So its gone up, under this configuration, by @2,100. You can also save a 1g or more on various other discounts. I think the only difference is the 6spd tranny that many think is just the current 5sp with its firmware related....i am too stupid to actually understand it all.

There are a couple of threads out there, but i think it really comes down to this: you save money up front if you buy the 2011, but come resale, it might even out. Many would prefer to get their money now.

For me, i can't find a 2011 with what i want, so i preordered. If the perfect 2011 shows up, i might make a move, otherwise i will just save a few car payments while i wait and hope my 15 year old Land Rover continues to leak oil (thats how i know its working...I have been told that when it stops leaking, that means she's dead...)

He's talking about a Summit not a regular Overland. You can only get the Saddle leather int he Summit.

What I'm saying is I what Black Interior with black wood trim and with 20"Bright Polished Wheels. And I want black clear coat instead of brilliant black. I could live with the brown wood trim and the brilliant black, but I definitely want the 20" Bright Polished Wheels so I'll continue to wait as that is supposed to be a late availability option for 2012 Overlands. Except now it sounds like you can't get Quadra Drive II and Rear Limited Slip with 20" wheels.

Looks like the HEMI option went up $200 as well.

Assuming the ELSD and Hemi are the same between years, then does that mean the additional $900 is essentially COLA and a price increase for the "new" 6 speed transmission?
