Hello All, long time lurker and first time posting! I am looking for a '17 JGC. My wife beat me to buying one last year, picked up a '15 Summit in early '16 for a good deal.
I am interested in the Summit as well, but also really intrigued by the Trailhawk. So my local dealer got a Trailhawk on the lot yesterday and I took it for a quick spin today.
My impressions:
Trailhawk looks nice, the suede seats were nice but in south florida they feel very warm compared to standard leather, I felt that they trap a lot of extra heat, so using the ventilated seat option is a must in warm climate unless you want swamp a-s.
The other feature I wanted to test out that is new was the 'Lane departure warning plus'. It did a very good job on the interstate keeping the vehicle in the lane, even around a bend in the highway.
One thing I was hoping Jeep had adjusted was the blind spot monitoring but they did not. From my experience driving my wife's '15, the BSM does not alert until the oncoming vehicle actually breaks the plane of bump to bump alignment. I'd prefer it to alert about 15 - 20 feet back like my current Mazda CX-5 does, that way it alerts before the vehicle is actually right next to you.
My questions:
1. Does the Trailhawk with both additional packages (Jeep Active Safety Group, Trailhawk Luxury Group AND both stand alone options for Uconnect 8.4 NAV and Blind Spot and Cross Path Detection) lack anything the Summit has?
2. Does the Trailhawk have anything additional or better than the Summit?
3. It appears that in south florida that the dealers are not getting many '17 Summit models early on. I've been pouring over about a dozen dealership webpages in the area and it looks like every other model is shipping but there are only about 3 Summit models on the websites at the moment. Is this a local thing or nationwide?
4. What are other forum members opinions on the new Summit nappa leather in Indigo and Ski Gray package availible, do you think it's worth the $5k price tag?
