Re: Transmission is starting to get very annoying

Just pull the transmission lever back and put it in Sport, as if downshifting a stick.

Or get it fixed and have both good MPG and Performance.

Re: Transmission is starting to get very annoying

The same exact thing would happen with my early build (4/13) 2014 V6 Limited, then I finally got the latest transmission reflash, and things got MUCH better.

After recently trading in my Limited for a late build (12/21/13) 2014 V6 Overland, the transmission is even better...just about seamless.

When I want to go...I just slap it back in sport mode and punch it! Works every time.

I just push the gas pedal. Works every time.

Serioullsly. I used to use non-eco and sport all the time before flash.

Since the Rev-C flash I don't use either.

Everyone should get the flash, but putting it into Sport for the 5 seconds needed to merge onto the highway or whatever isn't going to be a big hit on MPG.

Re: Transmission is starting to get very annoying

In Eco mode it would make me laugh to be rolling through town at 35mph in 7th gear at maybe 1100rpm. Very surprising that it never felt like it was lugging.

I haven't had a problem with it downshifting in town (in or out of Eco mode) when I needed to accelerate... my problem was the exact opposite.

Out on the highway I was having problems with it going back into 8th gear. If I was accelerating onto the highway it would stay stuck in 7th for far longer than expected once I leveled off at cruising speed. One time for almost 8 miles on flat level highway.

I could understand it downshifting into 7th when going up a slight rise but it would again fail to upshift to 8th once I got to the top and the road leveled off. It would take a couple of miles before it decided to upshift.

I had the trans reflashed the other day and everything seems to be working the way it should be now.

I never the need to drop it in Sport. On ramps, passing whatever.

Eco can waste all the gas you want.

Eco really only is eco if you drive very conservatively.

If you step on it, it will accelerate just as fast.

It just won't go into 8th when crusing. It will downshift more agressively when slowing down.

It will upshift slower from standstill, if your going easy.
But if you punch it from a stand still it wouldn't be much different.

Maybe it downshifts a millisecond quicker on ramp in sport mode.
But that downshifting in eco is quicker than I can hit the shifter into sport.

I could care less about, paddle shifters, non-eco or sport mode for any driving situation.

It shifts absolutely perfect in eco. If you need to accelerate just hit the gas.

If you feel you have to go in sport just to merge into traffic.
Either your jeep is not fixed or you can't break the habit once it was fixed. It's totally unnecessary now.

Only case I can think of is your driving like a mad man weaving through traffic slamming on breaks and accelerating and you want the extra automatic decelleration with sport mode.

Here is a good example of my point.

Granted this is a completely different car. But why bother with "Sport Mode" in this vehicle either?

I highly suspect the Jeep would do exactly the same thing.

Jump to 1:15 if you want to get right to the test.

With everything working. As soon as you punch it, it throws most of the conservative programming out the window.

If I could find a Jeep version of the test I would have. But I'd want to be sure it was "fixed".

Have you tested your theory? Anyone that has experimented with all modes knows that the jeep shifts at lower rpm's in Eco mode no matter how hard you press the pedal. Try it. This coming from someone who has Rev C from day one. Mine was built on Dec19, 2014.

Re: Transmission is starting to get very annoying

What I've noticed in eco-mode... the transmission shifts according to the demands of acceleration. If you're accelerating lightly it will upshift quicker and at lower rpm's. Under harder acceleration it will upshift slower and at higher rpm's, like in normal mode.
