I guess some people have it worse than us LOL, Mazda is recalling Mazda 6's because of spiders in the gas tanks:

You would think that filling up the tank with gas and driving around would eliminate that problem.

How could it not? I don't know a ton about spiders but I'd think drowning them in gasoline would be instant death.

Another question, how could a car have a design flaw that attracts spiders to the gas tank. How does this happen. Do they crawl in when the gas cap is off? WTH? I don't get it.....

Re: Troubled Jeep owners take heart, at least our Jeeps aren't infested with spiders!

As far as my understanding goes its not the gas filler neck, its a vent line that allows pressure to release from the tank.

A vent line? I believe you but that sounds bizarre. I can't picture how that happens and even more mind boggling to me is why.

What would attract a spider to a vent line??

I don't even know why I care....maybe my hatred for spiders is driving this curiosity.

MBDiesel is on a distinguished road
Apparently these spiders are attracted to hydrocarbons. A dark, confined space with gas vapor present like a vent tube would be prime real estate.

Yup, what MB said. Interestingly enough its only Mazdas built in one plant...so my guess is the spiders got in there? How do they survive this long?
