Trying to get GF in a new Grand Cherokee....

Looking for a little bit of help on the price.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Black in color. Not sure about all the options, but it has the 5.7, a/c seats, navagation, and should be pretty loaded.

Sticker is $44,100.00. They have offered me $39,800.00. I offered them $38,500.00 today, but he said the above offer is as low as they can go.

Is this about the going rate on a new GC? Is this paying too much still?

I just saw the Thread Lightly information. Is there any way to find out what the dealer invoice is? I'm not sure what 1% below invoice would be on this GC.

She has a jetta that she is trading in also. They offered her 10k for that car, which is more than any other dealership has offered.

Any help is appreciated as I'd like to get the deal done soon.

39,800 sounds pretty good for that. You're talking a Limited loaded up to near-Overland levels. That looks like an acceptable price to me.

Re: Trying to get GF in a new Grand Cherokee....

Go to Edmunds.com and input all options for the Jeep and it will give you the invoive price on everything. But also remember that there is a 3% holdback as well on the WK2

Sounds reasonable to me. Anything from Invoice plus $500 to Invoice minus $500 (depending on your market) is the ballpark your looking for, and I think you're there.

Basically for the same options i paid around 39 for my limited and then got another 500 for military rebate off of that.

Also remember that the 10k for the Jetta is part of the negotiated price.

And yes... edmunds.com is the place to go! But you're getting a pretty good price.

Re: Trying to get GF in a new Grand Cherokee....

Here's the info I got from consumerreports.org on your vehicle cost to the dealer:

For the Limited, the dealer actually pays $36,575.
Add $1,331 for the 5.7
Add $1,073 for Luxury Group II

You didn't mention other options, so lets leave it at that. So far, he's paid $38,979. So at his offer he's making $900 on the vehicle, and at YOUR offer he's losing $400.

BeernAle is right also -- as long as you're including the trade-in in the sale price, he can slide the numbers around as much as he wants.

Has anybody used truecar.com? When you put in all the options your looking for they seem to give a pretty good price, sometimes better than edmunds.

^^^^^^Yes, Truecar also gives you the HOLDBACK number on the cars as well which gives you a more accuarte estimation of the true cost for the dealership.
