The reason I asked, and didn't simply measure, was because I was thinking i'd get more height space if I put on the floor between the front and rear seats. Getting a long box through the door can be tricky if the doors don't open far enough. I've had so many height issues in the hatch (like large dog crates) I didn't think anything substantial would fit back there.

Thanks for all the responses. Wife vetoed a new purchase when I told her a new bulb is only $20. Should have kept my mouth shut. Ordered the bulb on amazon and watched the games at the corner pub.
See what happens when we go the honesty route and tell the wife ahead of time? Many would go the other route and ask for forgiveness rather than permission but I'm not saying I'm one of those....

Re: TV transport

I got a 65" Vizio in the box in the back of my Jeep laying down flat. Luckily, the best buy is right across the street, so I wasn't going far.

The biggest surprise to me was fitting a 55" TV in the box in the back of my '12 WRX hatchback.

Yeah, you can take it out of the box in the parking lot. But then you wind up looking like those guys who pull up in front of Home Depot with a Honda Civic, to take home all the lumber for the new deck they're trying to build.
Aww man, who set the rules that you can only thank once.

Feh!

A REAL fan would walk home with the thing carried on their back.
