U Connect (texting question)

My free U Connect subscription has expired but I am still able to receive text message via U Connect screen. Since expiration I am not able to read them or respond verbally with a new message but can still listen to them via U connect female voice. However I am able to respond to the person texting me with the 18 preset messages available.

My question: Is there anyway to change any of these written 18 preset text response messages?

On my 2014 they give me all the features of U Connect access free of charge for the first year. Then I believe it's something like $20.00 a month if you want to continue the services.

This will explain it better

Services and Apps from Uconnect® Access

NOT an app! It is the head unit. When your phone is synced to your head unit via blue tooth and you get a text message it pops up on the screen. You can read it or listen to it converted to speech. You then have an option to (reply) say your message verbally and send it to the person who text you.

I want to know if you can create a new message on the list of preset replies

Re: U Connect (texting question)

Digging up a little dust here. (Old Thread)

Just expired here too. That is probably the ONLY feature of UConnect Access I would be willing to pay for. OK, OK, that and remote start using the phone. Still, for that kind of cabbage, I will NOT be funding someone's early retirement party.

My question would be is there an app out there ("read it to me PRO" comes to mind) that perhaps can override the voice text reply feature? I'm experimenting now but it doesn't seem to be working yet.

I know my phone will allow me to speak a text, so why not just run it through the system somehow? Or the easiest would be just a volume muting I suppose.

I looked for the same thing but couldn't find anything that would interface with the U Connect voice text. If you use an android phone, Google is coming out with something called Android Auto. From what I gather it's going to interface with the U Connect system and one of the features will be voice texting. I found a short video about it on a Jeep dealership website.

Re: U Connect (texting question)

The 2015 Limited GC I just bought came with a 5 year UConnect subscription. Maybe call Jeep customer service and see if they will extend yours....can't hurt to ask.

Re: U Connect (texting question)

Yeah probably they figured that if they continue to offer only 1 y like on my 2014 overland 99% won't start to pay the subscription )
They're hoping after 5 y at least 10 folks should definitely buy the subscription for the one and only nice thing it offer: the remote start.

Re: U Connect (texting question)

Just some "features" Expire not "Uconnect" itself.

These all expire after a year.

WIFI HotSpot (I think this is yet another plan/fee beyond the Basic Services)
Remote Start Over Web etc.
Voice Texting Reply
Stream/Tether through your phone so you can run Pandora etc. Native on the Radio.

The Remote Start is often too damn slow.

About the only thing I want is Voice Text reply.
