I have an iPhone 5 with OS7 and in order to use any of the "new" apps I have to start Uconnect on the phone. I get an on screen message to do that. Yet I can stream Pandora from my phone effortlessly via Bluetooth. What's the point of the app? Yea you can control it on screen, big deal.

oh so it must be an iPhone thing I think the guy a few posts up was iPhone also. on galaxy it just always works runs in the background I guess you never mess with it unless you restart the phone for some reason then just tap the uconnect once and your done unless you restart the phone again which most people rarely do. another example of why I didn't become an isheep, just kidding

I have to say its a nice feature BUT it appears to stream through a phone and use the phones data plan instead of the uconnect 3G service. Am I correct in thinking this?

Maybe this was done because a lot of phones now have 4g connections but I don't see why I would pay for uconnect services when so far all the recently released apps use my phones data plan.

iPhone 5 here. I don't have to restart the app every time either. I think I've started it twice since using it. And it's been a few weeks since the update came out.

Re: Uconnect 8.4 verion 13.48.3 available

I have an iPhone 5s, and I have had to restart the uconnect app 3 or 4 times . It is running in the background, but isn't recognized for some reason. Doesn't happen all of the time, only occasionally. I have to stop the iPhone app and restart it. Not sure if this is an iOS 7 problem or an app problem.

The bigger problem I have is it just takes too long for the uconnect system to load. I usually drive short distances with multiple stops. By the time the 3g radio connects, the pandora app loads, logs in, buffers and starts playing I get one or two songs maybe before I get to where I am going. Although the onscreen controls are nice, bluetooth works much better for me.

Oh - and my camera stutters too now.

Yes, it uses your phone data vs. Uconnect 3g. Many would agree with you since you can stream Pandora and others through Bluetooth.

Thanks for the verification of how it works and yes streaming BT or through aux out even if usb doesn't work is an option. I really don't see a lot from Uconnect to keep a subscription but that may change depending what else happens between now and when my trial is up. I always thought the apps would be independent of a mobile device so maybe that will come in the future.

Re: Uconnect 8.4 verion 13.48.3 available

Since I refuse to get a smartphone, the only advantage I can see to the UConnect is the theft feature, but the price seems a bit much for that. I got a lot more from OnStar for less.

Since then, the nav position shows me in a different state, UConnect has no connection (no 3G symbol at all) and "Phone Requires Service" notification was intermittent. Dealer FINALLY (after 4 visits) was able to convince Chrysler to send new head unit. Dealer has been AWESOME to work with by the way! New radio was installed last week, and I now have proper working navigation. BUT, still no UConnect and now there is no satellite radio signal available. I just get a message that says "acquiring signal". None of the UConnect Apps work. Dealer was told to install new antenna, they did that yesterday. Still, no satellite radio and no UConnect signal. Chrysler has now told them to inspect the wiring harness from front to back from antenna to radio. If that does not solve, Chrysler wants to send another new head unit. This started about 2 months ago. They did update to 13.48.3 yesterday. Noticed the new apps are there, but of course, I cannot connect to UConnect store so nothing works for me right now. Anyone have ideas on what could be causing such an issue with connectivity? New head unit, new antenna, what else could they possibly replace? By the way, once they put the new head unit in, I get the 1X and 3G symbol once in a while in a very good coverage area. But it does not last very long, and it is not enough signal to even open the app store. New antenna made NO DIFFERENCE at all! Just wanted to get some ideas here...
I had problems months ago with my 14 overland, had multiple head unit replacements... The last time, the plastic protective cover was on the screen, so since that was different than the other times, I asked. The tech said that the other times they changed the computer module but not the actual user interface/head unit/screen. So bottom line, check that they changed out both the computer and the screen.. that might help.
