Re: Uconnect via apps review. And showing it working.

I'll tell you what, although I have several issues with my Jeep Dealer, I finally contacted Uconnect Support and they walked me through updating to the newest software. Once that was done and I updated my Uconnect app, I went into the vehicle and still nothing new...THEN...after several minutes, one by one, the apps started popping up. Now it runs without a fault. Good update and nice interface.

Re: Uconnect via apps review. And showing it working.

I just picked up my '14 JGC yesterday and was very disappointed that the apps are not supported here in Canada! Consider yourselves lucky down south....hopefully we'll get them up here sometime soon!

I played around with them yesterday and ... I don't think those apps are such a big deal. When playing Pandora and iHeartRadio via apps it seems a little bit awkward. I think if you play Pandora via usb cable or bluetooth it integrates a little bit better with the unit than the app itself. The Pandora app is quite crude and seems rushed. It works but that's about it. I think I'm going to stick to the bluetooth or usb cable once the novelty wears off.

Played with the new apps on a long ride today. I love having all these options in music

I love slacker and use it frequently on my iPhone,live365 is great also so I'm waiting for my next oil change before I get these recalls and various TSBs done and radio updates. I did get a bit of great news from Chrysler customer support yesterday, based upon my varying but non critical issues that I've experienced with my 2014 overland they gave me a max care unlimited warranty free with a 100 deductible. I was about to call Ziegler up this week so I kinda won the jeep lotto. I'm happy with their customer care and was before the offer which I quickly snatched up.

I like the Pandora app. The music seems clearer than iTunes or Sat quality and it must buffer well because it worked through a tunnel that doesn't have cell service...

so they gave you the warranty based on the number of trips you made to the dealer for problems?

Not only the number of trips but my documentation of any of the events, days times who I spoke with on the phone and the service advisor and my own personal pictures. It helps to have a credible timeline of events.

I actually disconnected my phone and it kept playing for some time.

not_too_shabby has a brilliant future
It seemed to work fine at first but now every time I get in the car and try to use pandora it tells me to launch the uconnect app. That works but the list of things to do once I get in the car keeps growing longer.

Re: Uconnect via apps review. And showing it working.

The Pandora app didn't work all that well for me. I have to start the Uconnect app and it doesn't buffer adequately even though I have 4 bars and an LTE connection.

If I just start Pandora on my iPhone and switch the radio to Bluetooth it works much better. Why use the app except for the fact it's there?

Re: Uconnect via apps review. And showing it working.

You can control the app from your head unit instead of having to take your eyes further off the road to use the phone to interact with the app. Also some phones have remarkably poor DACs and or things that modify the sound like bass boost.

I'm still trying to figure out why I would want to pay 20 bucks a month for this stuff though, I already have 38 gigs of mp3s on a thumb drive and can stream pandora, tune in radio, and iheart (or anything else if I had it and wanted to) from my phone along with having close to 30 gigs of mp3s on it as well. It makes paying for this service kinda like paying for the same thing twice. To say nothing of tacking on the ching for Sirius when the stations have such poor sound quality now. Its almost insulting really but for now its free, when they ask for money its not going to happen.
