Re: Unsure about snow performance

Is it safe to switch from modes while driving? In other words, I'm driving through snow in SNOW mode, I get on highway, I switch to AUTO? Or do you need to park?

I was in snow mode today while driving and I did a lane change and lost control for a slight second there. Worried me a little

Re: Unsure about snow performance

yes you can switch at any time.

Snow mode also starts in second gear which prevents slip.

Re: Unsure about snow performance

Foot or snow was no problem this morning.... good thing cause my development was not plowed at all when I left for work. I didn't even get wheel spin in snow mode!

Re: Unsure about snow performance

I tried to tear up some virgin snow in a few unplowed cul-de-sacs near my house last night. Snow mode was akin to the wifey taking away the keys in some respects! Its "SelecTerrain Knows Best" approach pretty much nullified throttle response once I started throwing lateral g's. It was pretty funny. At one point I actually said out loud, "OK, have it your way!" (I was by myself which made it even funnier to me). I purposely stopped on steep grades several times and the Jeep had no trouble clawing her way back up to speed.

One thing I didn't do was lower my tire pressure. I have a small air compressor that I haven't used in a while and I didn't want to take a chance that it would crap out on me when I got back home.

Came upon several downed limbs and entire trees blocking some side streets. I would have tried to clamber over them but w/o rock rails I thought that would be asking for trouble. Good times in the Jeep last night! Good thing I got out; the buzzkills from the county have now harshed my mellow by plowing everything up.

Snow performance? Epic! These Firestone Destination A/Ts chew through the stuff.

+1 Exactly. Thanks Jake.

Anyone unsure about snow performance in the WK2 should move to Florida and buy a Cadillac. If you want to do the Tokyo drift in the snow just put her in sport mode, push down harder on that pedal to the far right, and dive into the turn.

Put Wayne Gretzky on the rink in dress shoes and he still will outperform most competitors. Give him a pair of sharp CCM's and he'll single handedly win Lord Stanley's Cup. Same for the WK2, it's a snowmobile with the right rubber.

Me thinks this thread ties the wiper thread as the most ridiculous, OMG i've got a hangnail, sky is falling, can't do donuts in snowy parking lot, let's publicize a non issue, doing it wrong, posts in the forum.

Carry on.

Looks OK, I wouldn't just buy expensive black 18 inch rims and cheapo Firestone tires ....

Re: Unsure about snow performance

I had 4 Hankook I Pike RW11 265/60/18 snow tires put on my Limited about 3 weeks ago. I was in about 9 inches of new snow in VT a week ago and close to a foot this morning west of Boston. No issues at all with the snows in place. The new snows make the JGC II the best winter investment that I have made other than my new crud and powder skis.
