Update: I am disappointed...

I posted the following on 07/14/2013, but I wanted to give everyone an update.

  1. The Jeep now has over 15,000 miles in a span of 28 months.
  2. The Oil Change message came on last week. I was too busy to make an appointment, so I called the Dealer last Friday around 4:30 PM, and asked if they were busy. The guy said, bring it in, and we'll take care of you. When I arrived at around 5:00 PM, the Service Advisor handed me a coupon for $24.95 for an oil change and tire rotation. I was ready to spend at least $50, but this crazy guy lost $25 by giving me a coupon. I guess he's not interested in making money.
  3. At 6:00 PM, the Jeep was ready, just as promised. I thought Jeep dealers don't keep their commitments, and are horrible at service. I feel that they are discriminating against me by offering great service (see #4 below).
  4. They did it again!!! For the second time, they also performed a bunch of services I did not request, such as topping off all the fluids, checking tire pressure, washing the car etc. All for free. How dare they perform services I did not request? I need to call the Jeep hotline and complain.
  5. Outside of gasoline, I have now spent $42 in 28 months. Those crazy, cheap SOBs need to charge more for service.
  6. In 28 months, I have been to the Dealer twice - both visits were for oil changes. I am missing out on all the free rental cars, free coffee, free water, and free WI-FI. I am pissed.
  7. This Winter, Dallas has had several episodes of snow/sleet/ice. Of course, this is Dallas, and they don't really clear the roads, so after a few hours, everything becomes an ice rink. Even in those conditions, on all season tires, the Jeep handled everything perfectly.
  8. The bottom-line is that for every person complaining about the JGC on this forum, there are ten others who are driving around perfectly happy.

07/14/2013 Post: I feel like I am being left out of all the excitement that others on this forum experience on a day to day basis.

  1. When I ordered my 2012 Jeep, the Dealer service was incredible. The entire transaction took less than 30 minutes. I cannot believe that the Dealer insulted me by not keeping me there for at least three hours.
  2. Then, Jeep had the audacity to send me a rebate for $1,000. How dare they?
  3. When I took delivery of the Jeep in October, 2011, the Sales Rep spent 45 minutes explaining how to operate the controls. I cannot believe he wasted my time like that...
  4. For my one year service, the Dealer insulted me by charging only $17 for an oil change. They also performed a bunch of services I did not request, such as topping off all the fluids, checking tire pressure, washing the car etc. How dare they perform services I did not request?
  5. The Dealer has a nice waiting area, free Wi-Fi, and Coffee. Why are they treading on Porsche, Mercedes and BMW Dealer turf by offering all this free stuff?
  6. In the 21 months I have owned the Jeep, excluding gas, I have spent $17 for an oil change. These guys are certifiably nuts to build a vehicle that does not break down, and costs so little to maintain. What are they thinking?
  7. I spent $38,100 (after the rebate and dealer discount, excluding taxes). Why on Earth are they selling these Jeeps for such a low price, especially with a nicely designed, high quality interior, and great exterior styling?
I am very frustrated, and ready to give up on the whole Jeep experience.

I just got my JGC (2009 Overland not long ago) and have only been to the dealer to pick up parts that I wanted. Like Headlight beauty covers and a print out of what the jeeps Original equipment was when it was built.

Friendly service, never felt like they were too busy to spend an extra few minutes explaining things to me. and they actually sent me a packet with coupons to use for various services and said they sent them every month. I'm going to give them a shot and hope I'm treated as badly as you were

It's a dealer by dealer thing. Some are awesome, some need extensive training on how to treat people. Glad to hear you've had an excellent experience.

Re: Update: I am disappointed...

JGCCAYENNE, I feel your pain! Just got off the phone from making an appointment to have my '14 Overland serviced. After giving the service writer a list of things I wanted done, and the date I wanted to bring it in, he asked my name and asked me to hold a minute. When he came back he verified everything, and said my loaner was already set up, and in the computer. The whole call must have taken at least 90 seconds.

Re: Update: I am disappointed...

I consider you lucky compared to my buying experience, and I won't bore you with all the crap I had to endure...like a crappy shifting transmission for the first 9 months I've owned my GC.

I sure wish the dealerships in my area treated their customers like the one yours seems to do. Around my way Jeep dealerships won't perform TSB work unless you complain to Chrysler Customer Care first...AND some don't even offer loaners.

And I wish my buying experience went like yours as well. I was at two different Jeep dealerships for about 3 hours each haggling with the sales teams (both wanted about $750 over invoice, and low-balled me on my trade). At the second Jeep dealership when I was about ready to walk out the door in disgust, the salesman then said "Have you considered maybe ordering a vehicle?". At that point was I able to get a new 2014 GC for close to invoice and full trade-in value for my car.

When my 2014 GC Limited came in about 7 weeks later, the Clearbra I bought through them had to be re-done twice (full of bubbles), and the dealership must of forgot to prep the vehicle properly because as I drove the Jeep off the lot, a CEL for the ABS system came on. I'm convinced to this day that someone there noticed that CEL but failed to tell me about it.

The dealer service has been great, but what is more impressive is that I have not had a single issue with the Jeep. No adjustments, no alignments, no warranty claims, nothing.

Re: Update: I am disappointed...

Also glad to hear not everyone has the troublesome visits that many owners seem to frequent far too often around here.

With that said, I've had some mixed experiences so far with the most recent 3-4 times I've been in. As far as them treating me like a customer should be treated and the responses to my problems feeling sincere, they're about 50/50.

Most recently though, I took my 2014 in to have them check for a inconsistent noise from my HVAC fan that rattles sometimes. They "just barely" heard it one time, for a second, and so determined I'd need a new motor because this one was probably dying...already. So the part would take a few days to ship in and they said they would get back to me when it arrived to schedule a date to have it replaced. I was told the motor would arrive Saturday of last weekend.

Up until today, I hadn't received a call from anyone at the dealership. So I called, asked the service guys, who then "uh-huh'd" me at the end of every sentence before I finished speaking, then transfered me to Parts because he couldn't answer it for me. So I get put on hold for about 10-15 minutes by the Parts dept. and then someone finally answers, "Have you not been helped out yet?" ... I explain the situation again and they say the part arrived on Saturday, as planned. Then I'm transfered back to the Service dept. to schedule a day, wait another 10 minutes, then speak to someone new there. He sounded confused as to why I'm scheduling myself because someone was supposed to be handling it for me, but he quickly realizes why. It was because the gentleman helping me with my fix decided to take the week off, according to him... un-fu**ing believable if you ask me.

So this will be the 5th time going in for a service of some kind, since late September 2013 purchase. And I'm still dealing with terrible customer support, like this. Silly, just silly.

So cheers to having good experiences at the dealership, but I wish we could all say the same.

(End rant.)

Re: Update: I am disappointed...

Great testimonial.

Both my ''12 (deceased by deer) & my '14 GC have been nearly problem free.
I've been at dealerships for service that were great, and at some that were not so great.

You should mention which dealership (s) that you have gotten such excellent service from. Thanks for posting that - when I first read it I was like geez, not another rant, lol

It is Dallas Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM on LBJ Freeway. Good to hear that both your GCs have been good to you.
