Update label

I was doing some looking around under the hood and I noticed this label. Can someone tell me what this software update is for? Thanks...

Re: Update label

No. But for a vehicle off the lot, they will do any important updates subsequent to it manufacture date prior to deliverying it to you.

Re: Update label

Since you have a V-6, I'm guessing it's the RRT software update to tweak the electronic stability control system. It wasn't a full blown recall, but the software update was applied as the vehicles made their way through service departments (or before sale, if they hadn't been sold yet).

Re: Update label

There have been some other threads that touch on this subject.

Even vehicles straight from the factory have similar labels on the engine computer module. The numbers vary to reflect the version of the software that was loaded during manufacture.

What we have not yet seen on this site is a label (supposed to be applied on the underside of the hood) to show that a TSB or RRT software update has been done by a dealer. The dealers do these updates, but do not seem to apply new labels; at least so far no one has posted a photo of such a label.

To clarify: my V6 with mid-November build date has a similar label on the engine computer, there since the time of delivery on Dec. 3, before there were any TSB or RRTs for the Pentastar. It has since had all the engine/tranmission updates, but no new labels were ever applied.

Re: Update label

There actually was a post, I think maybe the 3.6L TSB sticky in the troubleshooting sub-forum, that showed a couple pictures of the TSB sticker that is supposed to be applied after it is completed by the dealer. I don't think it was on the hood although it is in the engine compartment somewhere.

Yeah you are right it is on the hood. Here's the link, page 2 has a picture.

The thread you have found is the right one that I was referring to above. But you have to read all the posts about that label. The photo posted by RageOfFury (page 2 if the thread posted above), is one of those "From the Factory" labels placed on the engine computer module, not on the hood.

IFAIK, there has not been a photo posted of a TSB or RRT label after a dealer update. Few dealers (if any) apply them. But the update is logged in to the VIN number on Chrysler's online maintenance database, which dealers or others can log into.
