I think they needed to do that with the V6 to increase the towing capacity.

I remeber years back when Chrysler changed the rear on one of their big sedans to increase gas mileage. The car was known as a comfortable boat hauler.

Then, without making a big announcement they changed the rear. Folks replaced their vehicles, only to find the tow capacity dropped from 3500 to 1000 pounds. The junk yards did a brisk business selling Chrysler differentials. I think this was in the late 60s or early 70s.

Re: Upgrade '11 WK2 to "14?

Thanks for the input everyone. I am not that worried about having the cruise control that brings the jeep to a full stop. I currently have adaptive cruise and I hardly use it (but love it when I do).

I think my biggest concern is trade in value. Being a jeep, I am concerned that waiting 6 more months will have a dramatic effect on the value of the '11. According to KBB I should have a trade in value of a little over 35k I would hate to see that down to 30k r lower in June.

Does anyone have any input on how trade in value is holding on the '11 WK2? or am I concerned about nothing?

Mashie

Sell while the selling is good. I'm a good bit above KBB with my trade.

I'm above as well on my '12. Contemplating taking a '14 for a drive when my dealer gets them in, if I like it enough I'll think about trading mine in if they give me a good enough deal since I love mine as-is and they'd have to find me one with the same packages I already have. I like the new interior and I wouldn't mind having the 8 speed. The diesel would be nice, but I'm not paying an arm and a leg for it either, I've been happy thus far with the performance and gas mileage of the V6, I figure it can only get better with the new transmission.

Personally I think it would be best to keep it since they rushed out the 14th. Your vehicle is now considered 3 years old and would take a hit depreciation wise. I would wait at least a year since they will probably keep the same 2014 throughout most of 2014.
