Uses for the SD and USB Ports

Besides music and charging can the USB or SD ports be used for anything else...files, etc?

Lots of things to power off a USB port... but in a jeep, the only thing that really makes sense is music. I REALLY wish they would let us run movies on the UConnect with USB or SD....

Re: Uses for the SD and USB Ports

I just use my own tablet and the AUX jack. Anything Windows 8 can do including dual display.

Re: Uses for the SD and USB Ports

Are the USB and SD ports always on or only with ACC/On?

All I know is if I forget to unplug my iPod Classic from the USB before I turn the car off it freezes the iPod. I'd love to just leave it in there plugged in all the time but that doesn't seem to be an option.

USB ports are powered, SD are not. Not sure if the USB ports in the JGC power down when the vehicle is shut down. You could test with a USB powered light.

Re: Uses for the SD and USB Ports

So, only the one 12v port in the console stays on when the car is off (and possibly the one in the rear cargo area if you move the fuse as per the owners manual). Anyone find anything different?

So anything that is displayed or plays on your Win8 tablet shows on the uconnect 8.4" dash screen, incl. movies through the aux port? Whilst the car is moving aswell?
This the same for iPads?
Cheers

Re: Uses for the SD and USB Ports

I read it that Padgett is saying he uses his tablet instead of the Uconnect screen and plays the sound through the car's speakers by using the aux input.

I don't think there is currently a way to get video onto the Uconnect screen.

There's not especially through auxiliary. I'm not sure what he was saying.
