V-Kool Tinting?

I just received a voucher through the bank for V-Kool window tinting.
The maximum we are allowed here is 30%, so the WK2 will get 30% all round except for the front windscreen that will get a neutral "tint".
My question is, what is the difference between Super Premium, Premium and Signature? All from V-Kool.
It has no tint at the moment. The Export Model comes without a tint at the back.

Re: V-Kool Tinting?

I'm guessing its the quality of the tint? There's a shop in my area the has about 4 types of window tint. Each are different quality.

Re: V-Kool Tinting?

Not familiar with V-Kool, though the name suggests it is reflective and will cut down on interior heating of the vehicle. 3M is the gold standard in the US for quality tint that will not yellow, peel, or otherwise provide lousy optics.

Per a few local tint installers here, the stock rear window tinting on domestic US vehicles is internal to the glass and does not provide reflective heat protection. They therefore recommend tinting the rears as well - admittedly they are biased but I took the bait.

I did 20% fronts and 35% over the stock tinted rears. It's great, though a bit tougher to see at night on unlit streets or trail. The 30% should be a huge benefit to you in the desert especially if the heat protection is there.

Glad to see you are able to think about driving and modding the rig again.

Moose, is 20% on the fronts legal in CO? It isnt here in TX, and with the possible move in mind, I'm thinking maybe I should wait.

Re: V-Kool Tinting?

I had 3M on my 2006 Overland, but this is a special on V-Kool. It is supposed to be slightly better than 3M, but I think they should all be about the same once you get to the premium tints. The interesting thing is that the V-Kool packages differ from AED 1050 to about AED 4000 (US $300-$1100).

Re: V-Kool Tinting?

I got an answer from V-Kool. The cheaper signature version has heat and UV rejection of 45-50% while super premium has 75% heat and 99% UV rejection.

NB, 27% is legal max in Colorado. Several other members from CSprings have posted in tint threads here, you might catch better info with a search. If nothing else it may be helpful to have it done locally in case you need any adjustments - hopefully local means CO for you soon.

Though most don't think of it, Colorado gets very strong sunshine year-round which does more damage than extreme cold and snow. Add snow reflection and it gets intense optically even in January.

After hearing all tint installers requisite legal disclaimers, most folks here do what they feel is optimal given more relaxed Police enforcement (tickets evidently aren't handed out frequently, if busted, it's a $50 fine).
