V6 Enough?

I am debating on throwing money into some off-road mods but I am afraid that because I have a V6 it isn't worth it? What are your opinions.

I don't see why it wouldn't be worth it, it will still perform great offroad.

Re: V6 Enough?

I don't see why there would be a problem and if that is the look and function you are after then by all means.....

Re: V6 Enough?

I don't think there is anything aside from towing that the V6 CAN'T do. At higher elevations it might be nice to have a bit more power, but lacking the V8 won't stop you.

Agree. At our elevations of 6600+ ft, my Jeep's V6 does fine. If you will be towing a lot and need that capacity of 7200 lbs, get the v8. Otherwise, you will be fine w/ v6.

Re: V6 Enough?

The original army jeeps were something like 65 hp., so I think you are good to go with the V6 given the increase in weight.

Re: V6 Enough?

Maybe he's hesitant due to MPG loss -- which is why we bought the V6 in the first place. Yeah, larger AT tires, lift, etc looks awesome, but I wouldn't want the huge MPG loss.

Even with the 2.5 in lift kit and bigger tires I've seen other forum members reporting a loss of only 1-2 mpg. That doesn't seem as drastic as some would think, including myself.
