V6 with no cover

Has anybody removed the black plastic engine cover on the 3.6L? How hard is it and do you have any pictures of the look?

Re: V6 with no cover

The cover is just sitting on about four vertical posts, by a press fit. It can be easily lifted. Here's a few pics with the cover on, then removed, and also the underside of the cover itself.

Re: V6 with no cover

awesome reply, thanks.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's just more plastic, no handsome metal pieces, no symmetry. I guess the cover stays.

I agree it looks better with the cover on.

Re: V6 with no cover

I know plastic manifolds are cheaper, lighter, and generally just fine for the job, but DANG, they're hideously ugly.

Good looking aluminum valve covers and plenums are way better... I know why we don't get them anymore on most vehicles, but yeesh.

Re: V6 with no cover

Hey Cherodude, you are missing the foam thingy that theoretically aids in blocking water from the air intake!

My Nov. 2010 build did not come with the foam rubber so called "snow blocker". I'll just live dangerously without it.

I'm a test case!

You can easily make one from the foam they use to pack fruit!
