Re: V6 WK2 Towing question

Ricky Bobby,

That is a great way to determine a vehicles towing ability by using the GVWR. At 10,400 lbs for the GC w/V6 engine, at approx. 8K lbs. my setup should be well below the max. I'm no hot rod with my vehicles as you can atest to my 02 Explorer having 134K on it and it is in great condition. The reason for my purchase of the GC this fall is the distances I drive in the midwest to various fishing holes/tournaments.

Great reasoning and input!

Re: V6 WK2 Towing question

Big Movers ? Just search the net for all the reported fraud. You'd better be a "in-the-face sort of guy" or have a lawyer present. I'm sure that many are good, but how do you know ??? Plus they nickle and dime you to death (Insurance, extra cost for some boxes, extra money since it took longer or you had more......). Contracts are not a firm quote and there is barely any interstate regulation (some intra-state).

We used ABF U-Haul, packed our own stuff, loaded it in a "pup" trailer that they drop off. It arrived on time and destination where they left it for us to unload. I had to buy a 4-wheel dolly, hand truck, couple of rolls of plastic shrink, some foam protection wrap and a few boxes (the rest I got free). Plus I rented some of those moving blankets from U-Haul.

Total costs were 1/4 the amount of using movers and you get all the free exercise you want.

Nothing was broken, no hassles.
