V8 fill up

Quick question V8 owners. Let my truck go to 1 dash above E. Filled it up and it only took 18.5 gallons and it was showing full. Any other v8 owners recall the accuracy of the fuel gauge? I set the trip on this fill up to see what it shows when it goes to E next time. Kind of confused as it should have a 24 gallon tank with an additional 7.5 gallons for the V8. Was expecting to be little over 3/4 with 18 gallons not full considering it should take close to 30 gallons.

Re: V8 fill up

Pretty sure the tank is only 25 galllons for both motors. I had the light come on and fueled up a couple miles later and it took 22.5. not much reserve i guess.

Re: V8 fill up

Thats just the amount of gas they put in before shipping it.

Re: V8 fill up

The EVIC isn't the most accurate on DTE either. Just as soon as my light comes on it will say 34 miles to empty. Then another mile down the road it goes to 0 miles to empty. I am use to cars that are pretty accurate or at least once they start the count down to empty it calculates correctly. I have learned with the light on I am ok and have around 3-4 gallons left.

Correct. My wife's WK2 only had about 7 gallons in it when we took delivery. Tank size is 24 gallons.

Re: V8 fill up

I have had mine get low low enough for the "Low Fuel" warning to light up and ding once, and I filled it within 2 miles after that, and it took about 21.6 gallons to refill it. The Jeep web site says that it has a 24.6 gallon tank, and the owner's manual says 24 "gallons (approximate)", so I figure I had at least 35 miles, even with stop-and-go driving conditions, before I was really in trouble.

Re: V8 fill up

It seems to depend on the dealer whether the tank is full upon delivery or not. Mine was full.

Re: V8 fill up

I let the DTE tell me I had 2 miles to go and filled it up with 21 gallons. Maybe the fuel pump in the tank takes up ~3 gallons of gas space. I usually fill up within a few miles of the the DTE telling me I have 40 miles to go and it has never been even close to the same amount of gas. Sometimes it takes 17 gallons and sometimes it takes 20 gallons even though it all says 40 more miles to empty.

It probably calculates DTE on the fuel mileage from the EVIC but mine is pretty consistent at 11.5 MPG for the past few weeks and it is still all over the place. My Fusion is dead on with the readings, when it says I have 20 miles left (which is my average gas mileage on the dash) I fill up and it is right on 16.5 gallons (the tank is 17.5).

Oh well, I know to fill up earlier than later with the Jeep because of the sloppy calculations it makes.

Your evic reads all the way down to 0? awesome. wish mine did that. first fuel light comes on w/ about 45-50 miles left. EVIC DTE counts down to about 25-35 miles left when the second chime and "LOW FUEL" pops up. Then on DTE all it says is Low Fuel. I really dislike this. I have about 30 miles left so about 1.5 gallons left. and I still only fill up with about 22 gallons. oh well.

Re: V8 fill up

My bad it never states 0 it really just goes blank, but always within a few miles of my light coming on. You would think it could be a little more accurate.
