Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

lower mounting is preferred for laser detection as the beam is so concentrated and typically aimed at the front plate/headlights. With a high mount you're more likely to miss those alerts (not that it matters much with laser, you're already toast)

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

I always mounted mine high. Like previously stated, by the time you pick up laser, your busted. Since I started moving mine up high on the windshield I never got busted on radar. I got nailed twice before while having it mounted low (maybe coincidence, maybe not). The two times I got busted, it went off, cop already nailed me. With it high, I have picked them up from distances and over obstacles I can't even explain.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Looking at the above wiring harness--typically the black wire is the grounding wire, correct? Also, how did you pick the #8 pin. Lucky guess?

I had to rip out my V1 of my old WK as it sat on the dealer lot leaving behind the hardwire kit. Just ordered a new hardwire kit for the new WK2 in my garage.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

Anyone using a mount, similar to BlendMount, or sticking with the suction cups?

Not having a WK2 Overland (or any with the auto dim mirror) in front of me could someone take pictures of the back side of their rear view mirror? I used a mount similar to the Blendmount on a previous car and it's far and away a better solution than the suction cups and I would be interested to see if there's a way to use this type of mount.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

I have the V1 and debating how I am going to mount. I think I am going to hard wire into mirror and use Velcro to mount under mirror. Keeps it low enough and easy to take on and off and doesn't mess up the windows with suction cup marks

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

Milous, would you please be able to post the wiring diagram for the WK2 autodim mirror?

In another radar detector thread, I recall you posting the diagram for the overhead console harness.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Valentine 1 Hardwire

Has anyone had any luck locating a fuse box inside the car? I wanted to wire my Redline directly into a fuse box, but so far haven't been able to find it. No mention of an interior fuse box in the manual either...

Thoughts?

I also have a mount similar to the BlendMount and it didn't work on the the GC. I have already ordered a BlendMount so I will report back if anyone is interested.
