Vanity Mirror Recall

Chrysler to recall 900,000 SUVs to fix mirror wiring: Thomson Reuters Business News - MSN Money

I don't think I'll go in for this since it seems the issue happens after the mirrors were previously serviced.

Re: Vanity Mirror Recall

So the title indicates 900000 vehicles recalled? But then states only ones that have had a previous repair. What's the real number then?

They will have to reroute wires on all the vehicles to prevent the dangerous condition occurring after future repairs. Not everyone will remember, or maybe never know, that there is a possible problem.

My guess is that a screw or other fastener may cut insulation during a repair.

I haven't even looked at the vanity mirrors, nor has my wife.

Or, the work for the recall itself may do it.
.... somewhat cynical today.

So, you guys stop using the mirror to check your lipstick, please.

They are recalling all vehicles in that date range regardless of whether it had previously had a repair done to the headliner or not.

Re: Vanity Mirror Recall

So for some people that are universally affected, the list of repairs/recalls/TSBs are becoming astronomical.

This is ridiculous.

Re: Vanity Mirror Recall

I've got an '11 and a '14. I have a dedicated space on my "junk" counter where I keep two stacks of pending TSB's, Rapid Response, and Recall notices. Dealer is about 40 miles away and I am chalking up lots of miles just getting crap fixed.

It's better than covering up the defect and then killing people when their ignition switch fails.

I don't disagree. It's the fact that these problems have been allowed to happen in the first place and it's multiple instances so far.
