Question Vibration noise when driving into headwind?

Just got back from a 1000 mile trip and had an intermittent vibration-type noise coming from the dash area, typically when I was going 70-75mph into a strong headwind. It almost sounded like a blown speaker. Turned-off A/C and muted radio and it persisted. Thought that it was the wipers, but turning them on/off didn't effect the noise. Checked under the hood and didn't see or feel anything out of place. Thought maybe it was the engine cover, but it was tight.

Any thoughts? This is on a 2014 WK2 w/V6.

Re: Vibration noise when driving into headwind?

Have you had the windshield replaced?

Ours did that after we had to have the windshield replaced, the aftermarket gasket is slightly different than the stock so it catches the wind and makes a terrible racket...

Re: Vibration noise when driving into headwind?

I know it sounds stupid, but is the area where your wipers sit all clear of debris/ leaves?

I had a leaf vibrate making a unusually low pitched noise. Strange, I know.

Re: Vibration noise when driving into headwind?

Thanks for the suggestions, but its the original windshield and there was no debris where the wipers sit. But, I'll check to see if there is any play in the windshield.

Re: Vibration noise when driving into headwind?

Mine was making a very similar noise on a trip up North a few weeks ago, driving into some really strong headwind. It was definitely coming from somewhere on the passenger side and I immediately suspected the door seals...I wasn't able to confirm if they were the cause of the noise, but I didn't hear it at all on the way back or ever since.

Another gremlin to wonder about.

*I've also never had my window replaced, although I probably need to after a recent encounter with a rock that decided to go airborne on the freeway.

Re: Vibration noise when driving into headwind?

I had this same exact problem when I first purchased my 14. I thought it was the wiper blades as well but after multiple trips to the dealership, that wasnt it.

Take a look on the outside of the front windshield, bottom center. There is plastic that goes all around there. I cant remember if the plastic piece wasnt secure or if the glue on the window wasnt completely adhered, but thats where your problem might be.

Have the dealership look at that area. They did it for me and it fixed the problem. Its extremely annoying and jeep is a pain in the ass about it because they "cant drive your vehicle highway speeds to diagnose the issue". Thats the BS I got when i dealt with them, hopefully you have a better experience
