Re: Virginia - 2014 Grand Cherokee Lemon Law letter

When I used the WI lemon law back on my 98 GC it was supposed to be one of the best lemon laws in the nation. It worked flawlessly for me without an attorney.

I just went out to look how much it has changed since then and was surprised to find out that they basically added a DMV complaint form that you must fill out and submit with your initial request with the manufacturer if your vehicle was built before March 2014. No big deal at all. Nothing else has changed that I can see from a quick look.

The other thing that really surprises me is that Chrysler in its entirety still doesn't have an arbitration program certified with WI... which means we still don't have to use that procedure when filing a lemon law claim. LMAO...

I got the same letter in Ohio and they said I am eligible also. I have 2014 Hemp and experienced the air bag module failure which was replaced last July prior to the recall and now I'm on the recall list.

Actually it brings absolutely none... The second you are involved with a Lawyer, they will not speak to you about anything.

I had some issues, escalated it with my dealer directly and I was taken care of properly. I certainly know of other cases but once a lawyer is involved you won't be getting anything directly from Chrysler, your lawyer gets everything and your get maybe 20-30%... have a lawyer you trust review those agreements before signing.

Not me...at least going through my attorney's office here in Massachusetts. I will receive 100% (says in the agreement) of what ever Chrysler awards me, my attorney charges Chrysler a separate set fee.

Well it is disappointing your dealer wasn't able to help you get something resolved with Chrysler.

Yes, very disappointing. My dealer has only performed the reflashes, and referred me to Chrysler Customer Care...who I've mostly dealt with...together with the Resolution dept. All I was offered from Customer Care were free oil changes and an extended warranty (5 yr/60,000 mile "Plus") for all my trouble. All I wanted at first was a 2015 replacement, but I was rejected, then I asked for a buy back, and was rejected again. So my only recourse was to then file a Lemon Law case against Chrysler.

Too bad Chrysler/Jeep doesn't take better care of their customers...they lost this one for life.

Good for you brotha!! I'm glad you took matters into your own hands and went legally.

I've been down that same road as far as being rejected for buy back and or replacement by Chrysler's lovely resolution team. All I did was get in touch with the regional service director and he got me approved for buy back within a day (he had to review my case file first). Granted it's been 2 months of waiting and paper work flying back and forth between the dealer, myself and Impartial Services... but at least he's getting me into a new '15 Altitude. He approved Chrylser to cover the MSRP difference ($1450.00!!) navigation upgrade ($600), all DMV and misc fees. I couldn't say no to it. He even told me he will throw in an extended warranty once I start actually driving it. I was very honest with him about how I just got out of a '08 WK (bought brand new), how much I loved my WK and how I would possibly buy this one at lease end. I think that really went a long way with him in giving me everything I wanted.

Had he said no I would have went the legal route, took my money and ran. Either way I was getting out of that horrid 2014.

District Service manager looked after me as well (not a buy back).

Service Manager can escalate it to a Regional Rep when appropriate.
