The Detroit News online poll for Truck of the Year has the GC running neck-and-neck with the Explorer; a moment ago they were in a dead heat, so every vote is crucial.
I think the Chevy Volt is a much more important car than the new Grand Cherokee. The Grand is a great ride but it brings nothing new to the table. Will I buy a Volt? No but it has the possibility to be a game changer like the original Prius, the first Jeep, the chrysler minivan, or the mustang.
I realize that but the car of the year category is much more meaningful this year. Anyway too many flag wavers will be voting for the Ford because they didn't require a bailout.
Ha this from a man who has a Boxster. Besides I'm not saying I would buy one, just thats it a much more important car than the GC. Anyway I like the GC, I am going to buy one, but I'm not about to blow it either...its most certainly the best car in its class but brand loyalty and fanboyism is lame.
Not sure about this poll and why the Explorer is even in the running. FWD/AWD crossover <> truck. (Not that a WK2 is a truck either, but on a relative basis it's more truck than the new Exp. could ever be)
And it doesn't exist, except for Ford's debutante ball some days back. At this point it's all puff and promise, with no hard-nosed testing or consumer use.
So how can the Explorer be "best" when all we have to go on is marketing fluff?
As far as I know there aren't even any Explorers or Durangos "in the wild" yet. Kinda hard to be truck of the year when you don't have trucks this year.
