Re: Water pump already ?

I initially took my truck in for oil change and spark plugs at 32k at my Indy mechanic. He noted water pump leakage and tranny output shaft seal leaking.

...........Soooooo, I dropped off my truck Friday noonish at dealership, got it back Wednesday afternoon:
Recall work for sunvisor,
Recall work for brake booster cover,
Water pump leakage,
and transmission output shaft seal leaking.

Everything done under warranty....$0 to me.

Took my truck back to Indy mechanic today for "follow up".......he says water pump was replaced and the work looks like it was done properly.
Put the truck up on a lift and inspected the shaft seal......replaced and ...still leaking.

So I'm having my Indy mechanic redo shaft seal.

I guess time will tell how everything else turns out.

Which dealership in Indy? And have you had good luck with them? I'm in the area too.

Re: Water pump already ?

Yep, mine died on my 2013 V8 at ~30k. I was pretty shocked but judging by this thread I really shouldn't have been.

2012 V8
<40k

Saw orange red fluid on the ground.
Thought it was PS fluid.
Researched and found that NHTSA looked into leaky steering racks.
The rack looked good.

Looked under hood and under car. Yup it was ORANGE....and watery....COOLANT!!!

Had AAA come and tow it to my dealer.
Got a call from dealer saying they saw a hose leaking and need to replace that and a thermostat in order to test the system. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm really?
You mean you cant hear the water pump bearing buzzing?
Stay tuned....

2013 40K V8, heard a word noise, took it in and they said water pump bearing. I had no leaks, just an odd noise. I'm glad I didn't ignore the noise.

Re: Water pump already ?

I assume that these weep first and make some noise before a catastrophic failure? Give you some warning?

Are these just 2011-2013 or are there issues with new Hemis?

Re: Water pump already ?

Never had a warning on my 2011... Saturday I cleaned under the hood. Drove 10 min (city driving) to - from grocery store, 10 min to work on Monday. Lunch time went to start, and wouldn't (the TIPM failure) raised hood and could see the line of anti-freeze where it was blown by the fan.
The 3rd attempt to start worked and took it to the dealership.
