One of the sales guys told me there was a complete manufacturing run that put the seals in backwards ... who knows - I guess stranger things have happened!

Are these just 2011-2013 or are there issues with new Hemis?
There really isn't much difference between 2011-2013 and 2014-2015 Hemi engines (not taking into account the rest of the drivetrain).

Ours never had a major failure, just a constant slow leak from around the edge. It collected mostly on the plastic cover/fake skid plate underneath, and was so slow there never was a leak on the garage floor. If I didn't change my own oil or pay attention to the reserve coolant, I never would have noticed it.

Re: Water pump already ?

Looks like the water pump on my '14 GC V8 is on its last legs. Have noticed coolant disappearing from overflow container for months; pulled the Jeep out of the garage today and noticed it had peed coolant on the floor directly under the center of the engine. Crawled underneath and can see the trails of fluid coming out of the pump and dripping onto lower radiator hose. Have just over 35K on it, so there shouldn't be any cost involved. Plus I just bought the MaxCare warranty because I anticipate things like this in the future. (It is a Chrysler product, after all.)

Hmm these hemi water pumps look like they are becoming failure points around 40k. Is this a normal thing on Chrysler products? this is my first Chrysler vehicle. Water pumps do fail but I have never had one fail on other makes domestic or foreign prior to 120k.

Re: Water pump already ?

What's the cost of these water pumps? Scares me. I thought water pumps were covered under power train. I've been losing reservoir coolant for a few months now. 29k miles. Two separate dealers performed system pressure tests and they say everything is fine. I don't see how that much or any coolant really can evaporate in a closed system. I could understand just a little.

Water pump already ?

No cost under 5 yr./100K mile powertrain warranty; and since you've had it to two different dealers you can make a case for full reimbursement if it fails outside the warranty period.

Pressure test? Seriously? I called my service dept and said the WP is leaking and they needed to order a WP for me so I need not wait without a car, they ordered a WP, I dropped it off and they had it replaced under warranty that day. It's a F-ing WP, they fail all the time, especially in Chryslers apparently. Any less service under warranty is wrong. But from what I read here, I seem a bit fortunate with my dealer's service dept.

A new one is about $390 online? Maybe less. I considered buying one for road trips in case, but the one good thing about Jeeps is there are dealers everywhere in the USA. And they do seem to fail slowly from what I've read.

But they are covered under the basic powertrain warranty (7yr/100K I think). I was out past 3 yrs.

Re: Water pump already ?

I have a 2014 V6 Limited, almost 53,000 miles, no water pump issues (so far). Coolant recovery tank still at "full" from the factory.

Re: Water pump already ?

I have 30k miles on my 2014 Hemi and I think the water pump has a small leak sometimes. After parking it in the garage I can smell coolant sometimes and I have noticed stains from the pink coolant on the plastic shield directly below the pump. I filled up the reserve tank about a few weeks ago and have been watching it.

Re: Water pump already ?

Not just a problem for the Hemi. Had my water pump done at 26k miles on a 2013 V6.
