Re: Water pump already ?

Jeez... Recently had my Hemi water pump replaced, at 240,000km can't really complain about that, but the price had me stumped, but now I've figured it out, they tried to charge me for all you guys pumps... They wanted, wait for it $2450 au just for the pump! Simply a joke, had an after market one sent over.....Now this week, had to have the steering rack replaced, fluid running as quick as I could pour it in.... Had to come up with $3500 for that one......Now its got a random overheating problem.... Think I've changed my mind on buying another one......

Early failure on mine too, just turned 30K miles. 2013 5.7 hemi, water pump gave up just as I got home last week. Dumping coolant when I pulled into the garage.

Re: Water pump already ?

Replacing the water pump today with suggested flush @ 55.5K miles. Noticed the leak last night. The quoted price is ~$600 (includes taxes). 2012 Overland 5.7

Most of you had it replaced under warranty, so I didn't have much to compare the price to.

Re: Water pump already ?

Are you having another OEM pump installed? I'm not sure if there is anything better, but the OEM seems to have a pretty high failure rate. I would have researched them had mine not been under warranty.

Re: Water pump already ?

They installed an OEM pump. The reviews are mixed for other pumps too.

I didn't see any stats on the failure rate of the OEM part other than the comments on this forum and another.

Re: Water pump already ?

This water pump problem is one of the reasons I went from a V8 to a V6. The V6 with the 8 speed transmission is pretty quick.

Interesting that you switched to the V6 and it also has the same issues (reported within this thread)

Re: Water pump already ?

Sorry to bump this thread but add me to the list. Pump just failed right under 51K miles. Took the Jeep out of the garage Sunday to wash it and heard a clicking sound, but it went away after warming up. Tried to replicate it without any luck. My wife then parked in my way yesterday and had to move her car only to hear it clicking again and a pool of red under the engine.

Popped the hood and discovered red fluid all over the engine bay, so took it straight to the dealer so they could verify what was going on. They said it's the water pump and the repairs are covered under the powertrain warranty 5/100, so no money out of my pocket for the repairs. They also claimed the thermostat was sticking, so they will be replacing that, but it's costing me 38 bucks for the part/no labor which I'm fine with.

Hopefully Chrysler looks into this as I've never had a pump fail this early in a vehicles life. Forgot to mention, V8 Hemi as well, so seems like it may be a common occurrence with this engine unfortunately looking over some posts.

Re: Water pump already ?

Had my water pump replaced a couple weeks ago at 34k miles. It was leaking a small amount and starting to make bearing noise. It was replaced under warranty.

Re: Water pump already ?

My 2012 Overland is in the shop for water pump also as well as a motor mount. 55k on the clock. They told me water pumps are on national backorder, so I'm in a rental/loaner until they get a pump in.

Re: Water pump already ?

Sounds about right. When I went in to get mine repaired, the advisor said they had to call around to all the local dealers and literally got the last one in the area due to them being short on inventory all around.
