Re: Water pump already ?

with these water pumps seeming to have a habit of failing prematurely over the last several model years does anyone know if they have improved or revised the pump, ha it gone from a say AC to AD or anything like that or are they just slapping the same old defective ones back in to fail again in 40k more miles?

Re: Water pump already ?

Maybe root cause is the bearing supplier?

Re: Water pump already ?

Just had mine done on my 06 Durango 5.7 yesterday...152k

Do the hemi's have two tstats or something? I don't have the price in front of me but when i looked up the model of it after leaving it showed a kit of two? I always thought it was just the one in the intake?

Anyway...it took everything i had to just replace it and not go out and buy a 2016 HA. I am waiting for the 2017s...

Re: Water pump already ?

My 2013 GC Overland 5.7L had the water pump blow up @ 2 years/15K miles.

The a$$holes didn't even clean all the coolant out of everywhere. I was still smelling that stuff a year later.

Re: Water pump already ?

My Pump went around 33,000 Miles, day before I had a scheduled service apt. I had it towed to the dealer and asked the service mgr if he minded taking it a day early. Still in the process of getting my two fee reimbursed. I was told there was no additional damage to other parts but only time will tell. Going back in for a service shortly with a family friend so will likely have them look around. Glad I got the extended warranty.

Mine WP bearing failed at 200 miles. The supplier sourced faulty bearings and they're being replaced with a new unit.

Service guy took a photo and showed me that it was indeed a new pump.

Re: Water pump already ?

Are these failures primarily all on the same engines?
