Re: Water pump already ?

Update, the part is on "national backorder." Won't come in until July 13th. I just called the another dealer in the area and they have the part. Apparently, they won't sell the part to my dealer. And this is why Chrysler is so f'd up. Any suggestions?

Yes. Get your Jeep towed over to the dealer with the part right after you call them and ask if they would install it on your Jeep.

Re: Water pump already ?

It's funny that maybe this is partly responsible for where jeep is getting the 'POS' label.

I have told probably 20-25 people that I plan on getting a JGC. Everyone single one of them has said they had friends that had one and they had tons of problems with them over the course of owning it, and not your normal everyday stuff.

Quality is probably average tbh but...this is a mass market vehicle with about 836,497 WK2s sold from 2011 to 2015...so there's a lot out there. You're more likely to know someone with a WK2 than an LR4/RR Sport (which have really are rolling disasters) so there is that.

Odds are that you'll get a good or average one. But the bad ones seem to be REALLY bad. Diesels in particular can be straight up disasters - domestic manufacturer's first attempt at a US compliant diesel, and they used an Italian supplier. Great idea. And there's a somewhat surprising amount of 'variance' between cars for a mass produced model. I've noticed production variance in the suspensions, gearboxes, and the panel gaps can be straight up comical on some of them. That's either unacceptably shoddy crap if you're expecting Japanese or German precision, or simply...Detroit's hallmark.

Re: Water pump already ?

So from sounds of it you get a warning, some seepage and or bearing noise before it fails.

Funny dont hear too many WP failures on the LX/Challenger boards.

Re: Water pump already ?

Update, still waiting on the water pump. Got my JGC over to the other dealer last week on Wed. First Water Pump was gone by the time I got it there. The dealer claimed they had 4 on order from another dealer in NJ. Mind you I am in CA. Still waiting on these water pumps to arrive. This is a horrible process.

Re: Water pump already ?

I have a 2014 JGC overland with 18k miles. It has been at the dealership for 3 weeks and when I called to get the status I was told the part is on back order until September. Has anyone else here waiting for a water pump been told they won't have their car back until then??

The bigger issue is that there are no available water pumps at any dealers! So they have to put in a special order tomorrow am with Chrysler. Won't get jeep back for about a week? Ridiculous there are no water pumps currently available. How can this still be a problem?
Did you get yours fixed? I took my car in on 6/28 too and still waiting for a water pump

That's ridiculous so what is it they expect you to drive when a warranty covered part that stops your car with 18k miles on it from running is not available until September, over 2 + months. no excuse for that

I have never dealt with a car manufacturer before that has such an issue with various parts shortages. If I hear the word back order one more time. They already received some hefty fines for failure to produce recall parts in a timely manor apparently still no improvement
