If it's a lease, typically payment would be made to the leasing company. If you plan to trade early or buy out the vehicle, keep this in mind. If you plan to just turn it in, don't sweat it. It's their problem.

Re: Well, The Inevitable Finally Happened

It's nice to see that you have your jeep back!

I got rear-ended in stop-n-go traffic about a year in. It was at a relatively slow speed but the tow hitch saved the Jeep for nothing more major than a few tiny scratches on the plastic fascia.

Maybe it's because I had just bought a new jeep and was not aware yet of the spacing around it, but I noticed more cars getting close to my bumper than when I was driving my copper colored Murano.

However, since I swapped out the stop and reverse bulbs with LEDs, it seems like drivers aren't getting as close as they used to. I'm not sure if it is the brightness, the fact that they come on immediately when I hit the brakes, or it's just me...

Thanks and I noticed the same thing. While driving home from class today I noticed the car behind me was right up my ass. Like that Camry was so close I couldn't even see its headlights at all. When I had my rental, when people got close I was still able to see their headlights and some of the front bumper (I had a Chevy Equinox). With the Jeep, it looked like that car was about to rear end me every time we had to stop and even while driving.

Re: Well, The Inevitable Finally Happened

When I had a Fiero I had a simple cure for tailgaters. I'd swing the steering wheel a little bit & start a harmonic oscillation in the back end. Never left my lane or slowed down but about the time the rear wheels started leaving the ground they would back off.

Hitting your brakes woun't help, they are used to it. Same for tailgaing a slow car in front.

Driving slightly onto the sides of the roads will lift off lots of dirt and they back off...especially up here in winter...

It is pretty beefy, seems to fit well. I 'shopped in the yellow stripes as it is too cold to walk to the parking lot and take a picture. They are actually 3M reflective anti-skid tape, and do make it a bit easier for folks behind you to see--not that 'gaters tend to pay much attention.
I bought the Beaver Step as well after being re-ended in my two previous Jeeps. The Beaver Step is built like a tank, plus it doubles as a tow point and yeah it's a step too.

I have a beaver step now on my ford expedition. Definitely one solid piece!

Yeah I think it weighs about 15 lbs.

I wish I had it when my 2011 GC got rear-ended. I was hit by a VAN which pushed me into a Jeep Liberty (with back-mounted tire) at a red light. I had $19,000 worth of damage front and back. The Liberty's back-mounted tire went through my front end like a knife thru butter above the bumper line so air bags didn't even go off.

Why would you waste the time and money putting the Laredo badge back on? Laredo badge = "I have the lowest level Grand Cherokee available" badge

Re: Well, The Inevitable Finally Happened

What is a beaver step? Also thats very unfortunate and a lot in damages. If the damage was that much then it could be considered totaled if it was about 50% of the worth of the car.

Also the other guy's insurance paid for all the repairs so I did not spend any money on my car. I was just wondering if the people placed it correctly which they did.

Are you insinuating people should not be proud to own a Laredo? If you are then that's crass of you.
