I saw a dark charcoal at a dealer today, in the showroom...holy cow...totally thought it was black - had to actually check the window sticker...I thought it would be a shade or two lighter. Glad I saw it in person, or else I would've considered getting it.
That is a color the Jeep strictly used for the pre production Jeep that was seen at all Auto shows. It was called something like pure platinum metallic.
His desire to get a 'sexy' look! I noticed yesterday that dark charcoal is not even listed in the sales brochure. As for that Platinum...I'd order that instead of the Mineral Gray if it were available. Much better at showing the character lines of the exterior.
Now I don't know what to get. The ultimate for me would have been Blackberry with Nappa Brown interior. Now since thats not possible I don't know what to do. Do I go Blackberry, with a non-brown interior, or go Brilliant Black on the exterior with the Nappa brown?
And if I go with nappa brown still in the black -- how long is that going to take to place the order even :/
The closest to the same look would be the black. It should look quite good considering the trim leather is black for the dash and door panels. I would imagine that, if it's true that you can now place the order, it will still be in "restricted" mode until that interior color is produced and released for installation. Maybe it's still the middle of October as was previously announced???
Charcoal isn't metallic, but it is a pearl coat. It does have the same "flake" effect when in sunlight, but also has a pearlescent effect. I like that it looks almost black when not in direct sunlight, but looks like a deeper gray "metallic" when in sunlight.
If it's ever sunny here again, I'll try to get some good pics in the sun.
